Solid Roller Lifters on a Hydraulic Roller Cam?

Roller lifters have been around a long time and run in more hostile applications and environments than you can imagine - every form of motor racing for extended periods of time. You're worrying about it too much !
yes roller lifters work good at 2,000+ rpm, its the low speed idling that kills the rollers, all hyd. lifters bleed down due to inconsistant tolerances.

When does the “Killing” happen? Is it only hydraulic rollers, or solid rollers too? I need to know so I can get out ahead of it.

I run solids on the street. The "idle oiling" thing is a myth. Prime your system with the valley tray off and it will remove all fears.

Since hydraulic lifters have to fill and solids don’t does that help/effect oil pressure?
Well once they're full they only have to be maintained. They wouldn't be any worse than the millions of hydraulic flat lifters out there !!

Also, oil flows in that fraction of space between the lifter and the bore - flow will be the same regardless of lifter type provided their dimensions are the same.

I feel like you missed the point of the episode. It was about making more power by using a solid roller lifter on a hydraulic cam vs a hydraulic lifter. It wasn't zip about longevity, only power difference. Bottom line is if it isn't a max effort build where you don't care if the engine sounds like a Singer going past buildings, then stick with the hydraulic roller. Millions of cars are on the road running needle bearing rollers. Can it fail? Yep! Can a bushed lifter fail? Yep! And spread brass shavings everywhere in the engine. At least needle bearings usually fall into the pan. I plan to use a mild hydraulic roller in my stroker 361 with hydraulic rollers. In my race/street car build, I am trying a set of solid rollers on my custom hydraulic roller build because I don't give a crap if it sounds like a Singer sewing machine and all I want is max power and rpm. It'll be so loud, you'll never notice the ticking. Lol.
