So i have been driving a few miles now and have noticed some thing about the car,

i took away the choke on my holley 770 cause of the engien failure early this summer, now it drives good BUT when it gets hot i wants to get upp to a 1000rpm, and when you put in gear
especially revers it wants to die?

Lets start with this. Where's your timing set at? 440'

That i dont know, i havent done that job my self, ive have had a thought about it being the issue. Can a bad timing make it not idle right and not work good in revers without give it some gas?

You ever here the term, timing is everything? Yes, it's very important and has to be correct! If the engine is getting hot at idle and maybe getting a backfire through the carb you most likely need to advance the engine timing. 440'

I run my 50 year old 3310 780 with no choke. Starts right up and idles immediately. No problem putting it in gear.
