Anyone know of a source for the rubber biscuit that goes between the gearbox and column? I thought bouchillon performance had them but when I called this morning they said Chrysler was their source and they stopped making them 2yrs ago. Any suggestions? Thanks guys

are you talking about the steering coupler seal?

sorry its for a 73 and yes mrhws i found that ebay auction too. Seems like thats the only available one at 150 bucks. So I decided to go with the flaming river universal joint figured if I had to spend 150 bucks might as well go with something don't have to worry about going bad again. Although I like to keep things original as much as possible, but i am considering dropping a 5.7 hemi in so maybe getting rid of the rubber biscuit is a good thing. Thanks for your help.

The Help! parts are just rubber, and are thin and have to be doubled. If they give up, so does your steering since there is no metal plate.

Bit the bullet and bought mine from Mitchells (Ebay). Arizona has them also - same price. Won't go bad in my lifetime. Hurts, but there's always a few parts during a restoration that bite (air cleaner for my 70 340 Swinger was painful, bumpers always cause a "consultation" with the wife, as does interior stuff from Legendary, wheels, etc.) Comes with the hobby !

I have the same issue. No one here in Jax does chrome plating. Closest I found is 4 hours away in south Florida.

Yep ... who's the south Florida shop ? Might look into pricing when the time comes. The vendors that come to the Turkey Run and Moultrie swap are out of Southern CA and quality is hit or miss.

See this thread. If the P/N in the linked post won't suitably replace the biscuit in the early coupler, just by looking at the parts books it seems to me the whole later coupler (or parts from it) might well swap into the earlier cars, for less than a costly NOS biscuit.

How ironic! I read this thread yesterday, and went 'humm, my 300 has an issue there'. Well, today, my stop-gap measure of 'fixing' this broke free as I turned the wheel. Luckily, I was stationary, and not moving!

I was outside, in 34 degree weather (or colder), trying to insert the replacement kit I scored at O'Reilly Auto Parts, but, the upper retainer would not budge as I broke off a screw in one of the slots where the screw goes in!

So, I did a Bubba move, I welded it together with 2 strips of steel! Yeah, not cool, but, it works for now. I will get the Flaming River Ujoint kit soon....

http://spacecoast-plating.com/ They are in Melbourne

The guys in California are Bumper Boyz and I have heard nothing but bad about them.

Did a "Bumper Boyz" front bumper on a Dart I did a few years back - pitting within a year and they exchanged, lasted until I sold the car but wouldn't trust their stuff on a "keeper" unless budget was really tight.

Ditto on Bumper Boyz - they had good stuff 10+ years ago, but lately everything I have seen from them is junk.
