Steering column shaft under hood

I saw another thread about this but cant find it, sorry. My steering column from the fire wall to the steering box does not follow a straight line. Is this common or not. Please send some pics if possible.

Also update after 8 months of fighting with Holley the replaced my carb with a 750 Red Quick fuel. Put it on started it up and no gas leaks at all.

The shaft will always be a bit off, that's the reason for the shoes in the coupler. How does the column look as far as centered in the dash opening? You can loosen the firewall flange and 3 anchors up top to wiggle it around a bit if you need to.
 
Then I would call it a day.
 
And if you look closely , the column should be off centre as well. Theres a safety reason behind that one as well.
