Here are the modifications that are used for the Edelbrock/DC Intake manifold to increase performance.
I tried a few different techniques but this one seemed to work the best.
My Edelbrock STR-14 was modified a little different because I used a PVC style spacer to dissipitate some extra unwanted heat that was sandwiched between the lid and the baseplate.
here ya go Actionange1.
no scanner problems here!

If you are going to post the Direct-Connection mods you might at least post the correct ones, thoose are for the STR six pack mods which are very dated.
There are different mods for each setup being used. The single 4 has many mods to the top itself, where none are needed on inline 2x4, 2x4 crossram or the 3x2 tops. On another note all tops will NOT interchange. There are two different STR-14 bases as well as the STR-15 low deck intake there are two.
Care must be taken when modifying these intakes, as the wrong mods will turn them into a sluggish POS.

So poppaj what are the correct ones for a dual inline top? I have seen them in the DC book but was hoping that the one's your gonna send me are better.
I'm stuck in the house because its snowing/ ice storm and I could be getting that manifold ready...nothing in the mailbox yet...

I can see yoiu didn't send Ange the mods like you say you were going to!:worthless_thread:
I atleast went out of my way to help a fellow racer, What's your excuse now!

:rolling::poke: :icon_rolleyes: :disgust:

Sent mods to both Ange and Mark. old mods were done with popsicle sticks where we have been building epoxy ramps to change volume and velocity to create a better more direct port charge. Most of our testing/mods were on the stagger 2x4. For the 3x2, the Wiend (sp) six pack ram is a much better choice over the STR. Indy has a new intake for the Chrysler RB wedge called the Modman. It has interchangable tops and would be a good choice for motors up to 500 cu.in.

Why not put it up for everyone to see. What's the big secret? :dark1:

The mods to the STR intake are all about fuel distribution and part of that mod is to the carbs themselves. For the six pack it involves jetting and high speed bleed changes and maybe the idle circuit too. I have an STR myself (14-4; 14-45 and 14-6) and will start playing with it soon. The ram effect is dictated by the length and volume of the runners as well as the box itself. I don't believe that with any intake shootout you can just swap the same carb on the different intake and expect that new combo to be dialed in. There is no substitute for trial and error and reading plugs and/or EGT.

I have quite a bit of time in these intakes- (str15 on Fugly- best of 9.59 on 496")-they are very dependent on proper plenum area, the best top if it's 2 4bbls is the inline, and carb spacers will help

Of course carb tuning is a peice of the puzzle as in any intake/carb combo, but this particular intake needs a lot of work to make some decent power.

SSR -the mod I would recommend for your STR is to pull the top off, stick your head in it and bolt the top back on. Should work like a blower.
