tach wire wrapped with engine harness or taped occasionally to eng. harness?

Well, I made the fatal mistake of not taking a pic of the engine harness prior to unraveling the old tape. Would the tach wire have been wrapped with the engine harness or would it have been an "add on" taped every so often to the engine harness since it was an optional item and not every car would have gotten a tach? This is for my Dad's 69 GTX with a 440.

Not sure if it will help but on my 69 charger with tach, the wire was included with harness. When I re did the harness to clean up and install the msd unit, I included back in as well but taped it to the outside of the main group of wires then ran the plastic loom over it all. So, I'm not really sure that it matters. Maybe someone else will jump in... Good luck.
