The official 'Show of Speed Sunday' thread

My now ex car, when it was just finished. Picture for a magazine shoot.

Learned something today thanks to @33 IMP 's post just now. I learned what a Cortina looks like. Ford? Lotus? Joint venture? The brief google search left me with some uncertainty.
Dad always said "Son, if you don't expect to learn something today then stay in bed". I think I'll go to bed now :lol:
Cortina is an English Ford. (I tell people it looks like an early box Nova that sat out in the rain....and it shrank)
Mine is just an ordinary tina, but the Lotus versions are VERY desirable and valuable. Lotus modified the chassis, and added a dual overhead cam head to the Ford engine. They were raced very successfully by some of the very greatest drivers of all time (famous for cornering on three wheels.)

The 'Mexico' versions are valuable also - the variations were applied to the later model 'Escort' also.

I wanted to buy a Mexico Escort back in London....but my wife said no. :rolleyes: Those cars are worth moonbeams now.

Jesus.. can you get it up past 5 MPH !! LOL.... :poke: :luvplace:
I know right, Chrysler built one heck of a muscle car, and the fastest it can go is 15mph :lol:

Probably not..... he's out of gas.
That’s a funny story. Brand new tanks inc gas tank, with a new sending unit, new wiring, factory gauge didn’t work so I put an after mart gauge in it, that one didn’t work either. Did a little investigating, sending unit works outside of the tank but not in the tank, and both gas gauges work, so screw it, happy thoughts, E means eternity!

This is from a shoot with a friend of mine in his '68 Charger - recently joined up here, and another guy from the local Muscle car club....

@KiwiCharger
Hey - that retro sunglassed fiend driving it does resemble me.
A way cool shoot gassing it down State Highway 1 on skinny 14'' whitewalls, managed to hang onto all the hubcaps though and didn't even crash into a gas station either.
Made cover shot of NZ Rodder late in 2012. Fun Days!

Probably the last Sunday show of speed with this car. It was a little chilly this morning, but headed off to church anyway. I have most of the parts needed to keep all the oil in the engine, so put it goes soon. Just need to order my cam for more showing off speed on Sunday.
