The Roach

no actual "car guy" would ever farm out the entire job; even if he had the money
I absolutely hate anyone working on my cars....even the daily drivers!

I agree.....the amount of times my "done" cars have had small **** try and leave me in a parking lot or just get finicky would leave those who can't wrench stranded for a tow truck. My wife laughed last year when my starter was acting up so we parked on a hill. She had no idea why we rolled forward then boom popped the clutch and she fired right up and we drove home. **** like that makes me wonder how those who can't basic wrench atleast can own these old heaps and get lucky with no issues. Even brand new parts die so quick now adays its always something even if its little. That car looks awesome man glad it came together so nicely!
Oh geez....can't count the times when I used a hill to get started lol

No, it is a funny comment and if you don't like it, your "humor" may be broken.
It is the skilled and talented people that impress others. I'm talking dudes that can fix things, improve things and create things.
Not buy the things that someone else built.
With arthritis going on, I'm about ready for someone to work on my stuff....wanna put my Belvedere back together for me? It doesn't need any paint or body work! :D

Oh, you're a funny man, no doubt.

Mark is there a pain in the glass going on? Glass guy busy?

Fag's, that's a little over used. Some people with money and absolutely no time buy what they want. I know many. I have a friend worth well over a hundred million dollars. His daily driver is a chevelle with a new Corvette drivetrain. He had it built and he's a major car freak. Completely stupid comment.
I wrenched on my tractor trailer when I was young, and had abundant time and energy, but no money. Even then, I farmed out maintenance on my daily drivers, so I could devote all my energies to my money making vehicle. If the night shift guys in the shop had the time, I'd slip them cash so I could grab a few hours sleep instead of wrenching.

Over the years, as my financial capital grew, and my human capital faded, the balance tipped toward others doing my work, but I'd done enough myself to become extremely picky about who I'd delegate it to.

I really appreciate the skills and talents of my friends who are capable of excellent mechanical and body work. I've done enough to know I'm not in that league.

However, if you can afford to buy one of our beloved B bodies done by someone else, odds are you are extremely skilled and talented in some other area.

The glass is scheduled to get installed on Monday. Once that's done, I'll schedule a date with the custom exhaust shop to build me an H-pipe.
The exhaust system is one thing that I made sure to do myself!! :D But nowadays, there are no more 'muffler shops' around to do custom bends and such. It's like they just flat out dried up.

Does your exhaust shop do mandrel bends? No time to skimp.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes they do. I've used them a couple times before & they do great work. They've got a bunch of shops.

The original horns which I blasted and painted turned out to be junk, so I got a set of repro OEM horns, which are very nice. In the picture below, the original junk horns are on top and the repros are on the bottom. They were pricey, but farting around with finding another working pair 55+ year old ones just isn't worth it. Got them bolted in and they work fine.

My friend who owns the Midas shop did an excellent job with his pipe bender, doing a head pipe for Baby Blue a decade ago. After the job was completed, he confided that his pipe bender was on its last legs, better get a reproduction part next time around.

Grew up (somewhat) in 'T' town and been to Brockton many times but way before I got into cars.....
