It seems every car platform has an auction part now. Used to be Mecum and Barrett-Jackson. Maybe Bring a Trailer. Now Hagerty, Cars & Bids Hemmings, Barn Finds etc. all have auctions. We as buyers need to find the bargain auctions without the high rollers with low reserves or better yet no reserves, no matter what the make of the cars are. These farm auctions look worthless for muscle
car buyers.

What say you? Any tips on auctions?

Up here in Ontario, Shackelton Auctions run a lot of farm and estate auctions, mainly online. Sometimes, nice cars come up for sale on their site, as older collectors either pass away, or reduce their collections. The sold prices are generally well below what you see at larger "Professional" auctions. One of the family members, Mike, used to be, or still is, an auctioneer at Barrett Jackson auctions.
I find and purchase a lot of model cars for my die cast collection at their online estate sales. I only live a handful of miles from their auction house, so I am able to pick up my purchases, and avoid shipping. There is also local viewing of the offerings, so I can see what I will be bidding on. The founder of the business, Les, and my parents were good friends, so I have known them most of my life. Business is in its 4th generation, now.
