THINGS I'M NO LONGER INTERESTED IN:

When you've been down my road you get up and do anything and everything that your body is still capable of. I owe that to a lot of family members...
My debt to my family has been paid a hundred times over. If I was anymore generous, I'd be a f**king doormat!! LOL. Just whistle, I'll be there.......... I get it.

THINGS I'M NO LONGER INTERESTED IN:

With the postings of some in the Political and General forums, it seems like some are no longer interested in the main focus of this forum.
Cars.
B Body cars in particular.
I strongly encourage any and all of these people to read up and join in on the many car topics that are posted every day.
If you don't have a car anymore, you could start a thread about a car you once had and how much fun it was.
Wow, that's the pot calling the kettle black. Shall we go through your activity list?

I'm not interested in being around my GFs family at any time. Being out in the cold weather. Wrenching on my daily driver when it should be more reliable.

Christ, no kidding, man.
A man holds the door open for another and the ungrateful recipient just walks right in.
A motorist slows down to let another car pull out of a side street and the recipient doesn't even wave.
A buyer at a swap meet tells you that your prices are lower than everyone else's but still tries to negotiate a lower price on something you already have listed at half the market rate.

I have dealt with all of those just in the last month. The LAST one really pissed me off. This young guy I met at a swap meet bought a few things but needed more stuff and came to my house. He had the balls to offer $10 for a seat for a Duster, one that had almost perfect upholstery. I politely declined but when he called a month later, I let loose on him. I told him how rude he was and that he needs to learn when to spot a good deal and when to quit pushing. I had exactly what he needed yet I turned him away because no amount of money would sway me from being pissed off.
The top two. How about a “thank you” or at least a nod. **** like that pisses me off. Common courtesy. Apparently not as common anymore.

X2, that's from a guy that was trying to teach me how to post. Anyday, bring it on. I'm different, if someone wants me to stop, just say so, I'm gone..... hard to believe....

Wow, that's the pot calling the kettle black. Shall we go through your activity list?
Sure, let's do it.
I counted 8448 posts in the technical forums with over 10,000 in General and 8800 in Political.
My posts in the Political Forum did increase in percentage leading up to the election but I'm active in the Tech and General forums as well.
I have learned as much as I have helped here and I will continue to do so as long as I am here.
My aim was toward members that only post in Political and General forums that joined a car forum to chat about everything except cars. Taking it further, my contention is mostly toward argumentative members that take the side of the extreme minority that only inflame others. Sure, they have the right to do what they do but when do they ever balance their actions with comments that help anyone else?
I won't call them out in the open here but some members really do appear to only post things that annoy the majority yet they have never offered help in any tech question, they have never passed along helpful advice about a new part that just became available, never posted pictures from any car show or cruise night either.
With the election over, the appearance of the people that I alluded to has almost disappeared.

YAY ! Congratulations, man!

Me?
I still love driving at night, even in the rain. I don't know why but night driving has always been fun for me.
Winters here don't include snow, just cooler weather and some rain.
I don't feel as motivated to do things outside once late Fall and Winter roll through. Overcast skies bum me out. I couldn't stand to live anywhere that gets a lot of rain or any snow. I thrive in the sunlight.
You said iirc how old you are awhile back.....wait until you are in your 70's and you probably won't like being in the sun much anymore especially after getting a few skin cancers cut off of your face.
Cataract surgery will correct that.
Had light sensitive eyes that go way back. Had to wear sun glasses even when the sky was overcast and especially so when driving a white pickup. That truck was my one and only white vehicle. Nowadays, my eyes are not so light sensitive and don't have cataracts but the lighting on the new junk is horrible! At night, I can always tell the older vehicles that are coming at me vs the new crap....the older stuff just doesn't have the glare like the newer stuff.
Same here, I've worn glasses for nearsightedness since high school. Got worse until my 30s, then stabilized when I was done with school. Haven't had a prescription change since, and it got almost to 20/10 at distance as I aged. Fringe benefit was I had incredible close up vision when I took my glasses off, great for close work like tying on midget dry flies when I was trout fishing. Cataracts started developing when I hit 65, now I'm down to 20/20 and can't see squat up close, which is where I have the greater need, now that I'm no longer driving a truck.

Opthamologist says it's my call, he'd refer me tomorrow, or I might never want new lenses. Still trying to figure my course of action. I had hoped to do more fly fishing in retirement, and I'm actually doing less. My leg situation doesn't help either, but I've got zero room for complaint after what I've seen some of you guys go through.
Had 20/15 for lots of years.....that's pretty much gone now. As for legs.....my knees are what's bothering me these days.

Had lots of those kinds but I don't get pissed off anymore. Just keep your calm and look at them like they're stooopid! They will either leave or come down to earth lol
The year or so that track was open in the 90s is still a highpoint in my life, I loved that place. Any other track since then has been a let down for me.
Didn't really enjoy drag racing like I did in the 70's and 80's when the 'old' Houston track closed down and I'm not talking about Houston Raceway Park. That was the new track and didn't enjoy it like I did at the older one.
Decorative pillows how many does a wife really need?
Glad my wife isn't into that mess but she does like Elvis a lot lol
I'm not interested in being around my GFs family at any time. Being out in the cold weather. Wrenching on my daily driver when it should be more reliable.
I'm glad my daily drivers do well and my wife's family is ok.....mine on the other hand....rather spend my time with my wife's family. Cold weather I can stand but anything over 95 is....well, don't like it. At the freezing mark ain't bad but in the teens is what I don't care for. Glad that doesn't happen here very often.

I actually have had "Pre-Cancerous" spots zapped on my face and forearms a few times. It was something that I just accepted as part of working outdoors. I used to spend 8-10 hours a day out in the sun plus whatever time after work and on weekends. I'm indoors or in the shop out back a LOT more now. I started using sunscreen when I was in my late 20s, early 30s and retired at (almost) 57 two years ago. My face may be ugly to some but my neck and arms seems to have taken more damage.
I've known guys in their 70s with arm skin that looks as fragile as wax paper and torn just as easily. I may end up that way but I hope not.

After the cataract surgery, my eyes were more light sensitive & the doctor told me they would be. I too have to wear sunglasses on cloudy, but bright days. The surgery did improve my night vision getting rid of the halo effect from oncoming headlights. They did one eye and the other about a month later & comparing the two eyes prior to the second surgery while night driving was amazing.

Im not a fan of night driving..especially if ots raining

Otherwise :

ive life for today.

Tomorrow just may never come. It's not guaranteed for any of us

Started mowing yard when I was 12 and usually not wearing a shirt then went to work with dad at 14 and a few years later, surfing....lots of time in the sun even in my 20's until Uncle Sam got me. I remember lots of people at the beach using sunscreen and trying to get a tan. That didn't make sense to me in the late 60's plus the stuff would wash off in the water so why use it? Didn't like the way it felt either. Anyways, never wore long sleeves unless it was cold out and so far, my arms have fine but have had several cuttings on my face. These days at 73, the sun doesn't feel good on me anymore.
That's not a bad thing, that's the prize you get for all the years of, been there, done that, partied like there was no tomorrow and got a t-shirt. It's a badge of honor!! I got a matching pair!! LOL
Never was much of a partier and with the way drunk driving is around here, staying home isn't a bad idea. When I was working the evening shift, getting off at midnight, the roads were usually fairly empty but not anymore. One night on a holiday weekend after getting off work and heading home, some girl was going curb to curb and trying to get in front of her to stop her dumb *** was futile. Yup, was willing to sacrifice my pickup to stop her and so was another but the road was 3 lanes wide and she would just jump the curb and get by. She probably thought we were trying to get her to stop so we could molest her so after a few minutes we gave up. Don't know if she made it to her destination. This was before cell phones and there wasn't any place to stop to call 911.....

1. Driving at night
2. Leaving my house at night
3. Driving in the winter
4. Leaving the house in Winter
Florida is beautiful this time of year…..

Tired of excuses and bullshit stories of delay and inadequacy.
Either you can or you can’t!
****! Or get off the pot!

58, I sound about right then. LOL
I retired at 55....had enough of back pain and ahole stoopidvisors. Thing is, I was a yard mowing fool at 12 and that was going on not just in the summer time but also in the fall and early spring. You live pretty much in the same weather type area as I do so you know the grass does still grow some in the winter especially if the winter is mild? The mowing season slows down some though. Went to work with my dad at 14 building houses. Anyways, my back felt lots better after retiring but once I hit 70, I started slowing down against my wishes lol. Maybe I should stop drinking.....or maybe not! I'm still active pretty much all day but nowadays my knees let me know when I've had enough.....

Also retired at 55. Supervisors were not the problem.
Micro-management and getting into my personal well being space of mandatory reporting of traveling on my time from one location of work to the next connecting shift was the start of really crossing the line.

Example of that is working midnights in one location and having to call them to let them now I’m traveling to the next location.

After 30+ at the job, the balance of quality of my life and brain was tipping in the wrong direction. Since I met the age minimum and there was no good reason to stay on board, I threw in the towel. I took the pension and left the Big Apple Empire State for more suitable weather. Happily, I traded the 3-4 months of bone hurting weather where I can’t work on a car for the stupid hot 3-4 months of hot weather where I can work on a car to about mid day and then retreat to the pool or A/C.

I like mid day lunch’s and a nap nower days. During winters here, I can wrench in the mid 40’s and be OK, slightly cranky. During the summer, 4-5 hours in the morning till noon. Once electricity, water and the loft gets in the new garage, no one may ever see me again.

But like I said above, ether do, or, do not. If f your not sure, say so and I can wait, but, may do without if your on the fence. It’s all good! Just no time for non sense and wish washy people. I’m m more of a “Lets getter Done.” guy. He like to be positive and have positive motions.

I feel ya on the back issues. 1 partial slip disc, 1, with mild compression, ligaments damaged and not getting better, arthritis in the joints, etc… like many here at the age where these annoying things crop up and creep in.

I’m not bitchen, just saying how it is and it is what it is.
Some days it’s a challenge to do things and others it’s like I’m young. And sometimes regret it in the evening. LMAO!
UGH!

I’m not a salty hard nosed ***. Just tired of dumb ****.
I’m easy going, would rather make jokes or learn something.
A basic IDGAF attitude, let enjoy the day, laugh, go racing, hang out and BS, drink beer, eat well, etc…

And yea! Grass down here grows like a Mutha-******! Dang!
Sometimes twice a month is t enough. It’s a little ridiculous compared to where I grew up and lived for the first 55. Yikes!
