1968 Coronet RT, 440. I seem to be missing something. How does the cable attach to the pedal bracket? Even I know a square peg won't go into a round hole.

Never done one like that. It looks to me it has a push it in and a spring locks it. To me the spring is ok on left side of photo but none on right? Is there a broken edge? I could totally wrong.

What moparnation74 said. At a glance, it's maybe a '71+ throttle cable. The older ones are round with a metal clip that goes inside the car where yours is square with the plastic clips. The older ones are metal there too.

It's what was on the car when I got it. I could easily make it work, if it wasn't too long. I can't remember how it was previously attached.

I don't understand the meaning, if any, of the previous post. Someone please enlighten me, good or bad.

That doesn't make it right for the car.

Have a search on Moparnation74's restoration thread as shown above - more than enough info there.

People are telling you what will work and what will not....and you don’t listen nor probably looked at the thread I posted...

You can buy a used cable from any vendor dirt cheap or just buy a new one versus some piece of junk that won’t work.

So it’s good because I provided sound advice and the “ugh” is that the advice is hitting concrete.

            How’s that for an explanation?

Yes, that is a '71 ish year. That looks exactly like the one for my '71. It "fills" or locks into one of the holes in the firewall, in front of the accelerator pedal. The ball of the cable locks into the pedal and is held into place with a liitle "c" clip of sort, to hold the ball in the pedal

I have been raked over the coals, I think very unfairly, because of some assumptions, and my virus riddled computer.
To start with, show me the post where I say I am going to ignore all advice. I made a couple of statements, which were made only to give more information about the original problem, and people assumed the wrong intention of those statements.
Next, when I asked what that post meant, my computer was not showing that there was a video attached. So tell me, if any one of you saw that post with only a quote, wouldn't you wonder what it meant?
I value and use the advice I have been given on this site. I even thank people that give me the old " My brother's buddy has a friend that says he thinks he knows the answer".
I try to reciprocate and help out others, but so many here are so much more knowledgeable and quicker than I that my advice is usually a day late and a dollar short. I do know that I have helped others on this site.
I am frantically trying to get my car ready before the Woodward Dream Cruise (8/17), and partly because of the Heinz 57 mix and match nature of the car I am continually running into slowdowns. I admit I have taken some shortcuts, but that is my choice.
I think it would be very unjust if the incorrect assumptions made about me were to convince some people to stop giving me advice because they would think I would just ignore it . By the way, I bought the correct cable and I got the engine started for the first time since I bought the car.

I think your doing great... And while it didn't come across that way I think everyone is trying to help...You got the right part, you got loud noises out of your exhaust... It was a good day.... So get back to work!! Your running out of time!!

BTW I love 68 R/T's... I remember a red 68 R/T in Madrid Spain (Torrejon AFB) that I would see every day while riding the school bus....

I think your last post funneled yourself into the possibility of limited help....

Your picture had exactly what was needed to clearly state that you have the wrong part. Finding a good used cable from a vendor is easy, cheap and quick as which I provided that insight. However, you ignored those things mainly because you have a personal indifference with me and had to vent.

Furthermore, your incorrect assumption of convincing others is of your own making and your own postings......I help everyone...So your can stuff that comment where it belongs.

You never acknowledged doing your own research and when even when supplied a link you still ignored it. Even when that detailed what you needed....So glad you took the time to post thatand thank you btw...All for someone that gets butthurt over someone trying to help them get their car on the road faster and operating right....and giving them a hint to save you money in the process...Wow, just wow...

Since you obviously don’t want my help because of an indifference you have towards me, that’s fine...Now I know to completely ignore your postings!

Best of luck getting ready for Woodward....

I repeat; show me the post where I say I am going to completely ignore advice.
                Another incorrect ASSUMPTION.
                Incorrect ASSUMPTION number three.

Your postings state differently. That is a fact......also not one single post did you thank anyone, None! Kinda selfish to be honest....but you have to get your car ready, right...lol! Maybe you should reflect on that a bit and think, Why?

You apparently have an Ax to grind for some reason and you clearly made wrong assumptions.......

That being said, good bye and best of luck with your future projects.....
