When I worked at AutoZone all returned oil, even with the seal.in place, was disposed in the used oil bin. The reason is it could not be proven that the oil wasn't tampered with, etc.

I no longer talk to my sister as of Christmas day! She doesn't pull scams but treats me like scum because I don't think like she does....if you get my drift. She's 78 and I'm 74 and it's gotta suck to be her but I didn't say that to her but she has said WAY to much to me and I'm done.

Best to take the high road as you are , but I hate to hear of siblings breaking off contact . Although I do understand. Sometimes you reach that point of all you can take. Maybe down the road it will get figured out.

We've been off and on for way too many years. She used to live down same the street I do which is a cul-de-sac. She got mad at me for a stooopid reason and didn't talk to me for a full year. She had to drive by my place on the way to hers and if I was out mowing or whatever and wouldn't wave as she drove by. The stooopid reason was she was trying to tell me how to raise my kids when she never had any but took child psychology in college. I read the same books she did only no college credit like she had but our mind set differed and since we didn't match, I was in the wrong. Told her to have a couple of kids of her own and then we'll talk and compare notes and she blew up. Down the road is now! Tired of her treating me like a red headed step brother....

Thats sucky, same thing has happened in my family, I'm the only one who gets along with everyone. I may try their patience and they try mine, but no hard cut off like others have had. And even here on this forum, I know some, or a bunch don't think the way I do politically or otherwise but I appreciate we clearly have the same love of some things. Mainly cars but clearly also dogs and cats and in most cases I would rather build on what we (the figurative 'we') have in common instead of discarding those commonalities, no process is made with that mindset IMO.

This summer will mark 10 years since I last had any contact with my sister, or ex-sister as I now refer to her.
She was drinking a lot at the time and started ranting about politics at dinner, blew up and proceeded to physically throw me out of her house screaming F bombs.
She married into a successful family and I think she was embarrassed having a brother who wasn’t a senior level exec who owned a 5000 sq ft house and into elitist woke politics. I suspect she did that political blow up intentionally to get rid of her black sheep embarrassment of a sibling once and for all.
Back to the original topic, I worked for a director of engineering who at one time got himself obsessed with designing a piece of test equipment for our lab. It became a running joke in our engineering team. He needed something for it from a vendor and told them we had ideas of building this test cell to sell to other companies, so they’d build us the component he needed, either as a prototype or below their minimum run quantity requirement.
A story circulated about him that he was banned from a local hardware store for buying tools, using them for a task, then returning them.
We went out for a department Xmas lunch every year that he told us we each had to pay for our own meal. Then we learned one year that each department head got a budget to treat their team to the holiday lunch. After getting confronted about that, he treated us going forward.
I don’t know if he’d been pocketing that holiday lunch money or was just trying to reduce expenses so he could boast to his superiors he was coming in under budget for the year.
As I wrap up a 35+ year engineering career and think back to all the companies and people I worked for, all in all he wasn’t all that bad compared to many of the scumbags, back stabbers, toxic coworkers and just plain unethical people I’ve encountered in offices. Like a Dilbert cartoon but rarely funny!

We have what we call buddy f***ers at work (I think the military term is a blue falcon?). It’s hard to understand how you could think throwing someone under the bus to look good in the short term will benefit you in the long term. After a while no one trusts you. No one is going to help you. I work in a relatively small industry at a company with unusual employee retention so if you plan to make a career there, don’t be a scumbag.
The other thing that’s amazing is people that steal from the company…Fluke meters, expensive tools, even rubber gloves. Hard to understand risking your 100k+ a year job for a $150 tool.

40 plus years as a construction electrician and I came across many of the type that you describe. As you said , it all caught up with them. Instead of being on the in they were on the out and eventually they faded out of the company.
