For the 71-74 Plymouth Bbodies will a universal radio antenna fit properly or is the factory opening punched in a too-rounded/curved area of the fender? Thank you.

I bought one of those antennas for my 74, and it sucked. There was no way to really tighten it up so it wouldn't come lose. I was going to try to modify it with a huge washer, but came across an original antenna and ended up using that.

By the way, you might want to go hit up some junkyards. The antennas for all these vehicles were the same. The one on my 74 Roadrunner came off a 73 Town & Country station wagon, and I've seen the same antennas on late 70s/80s Dodge trucks.

I was thinking of doing away with mine too. I took the car through the car wash a few weeks ago, and the only thing that was an issue was the FM antenna, which got bent. I was thinking of just installing a hidden wire antenna and capping off the fender hole or a power antenna.
Crutchfield sells antennas that fasten to the inside of your windshield with adhesive tape. With my windshield beeing slightly tinted at the top it's completely hidden from the outside and the rear view mirror mostly hides it on the inside. Can't say how well it works since I never listen to the radio (very few stations come in clear where I'm at).

Yep, that was the one I was going to use. My Police Interceptors use those wire antennas that are embedded in the back light. They are not as good as a steel antenna, but they work almost as well.
