1964 Dodge, Slant 6 engine, just replaced the old defective coil with a new Accel, now I want to replace the old "solid state" ignition module with the Pertronix which has 2 wires, I know where those 2 go, but the old distrib seems to have 3 wires. The electronic control box also has many other wires connected. Here are the old Motorcraft instructions and the new Pertronix one. Should I just remove the electronic box completely? Appreciate your advice.

Yes, all of the ign module can be removed and you will wire the system ALLMOST like originally was, points system with just one difference: The pertronix system will require 12 volts. As far I recall Pertronix states to remove/bypass the ballast. This will feed the coil with full 12 volts in both stages ( RUN and START ) and you can source the pertronix system from coil + lead, aside send the trigger signal from Pertronix to the - lead of coil.

you can remove ballast and splice all wires together, install a jumper wire between ballast prongs, or a cleaner work will be modify the ballast on back, removing the resistor element and installing the jumper wire on rear groove reusing the ceramic piece and terminals, keeping the stock look if wished
