wanting to buy 71 or 72 B-Body

Any pics of the "aftermath"?

RESTORED PLYMOUTH SATELLITE ROAD RUNNER.440 BIG BLOCK ENGINE, 727 SLAP STICK AUTO,ORIGINAL INTERIOR, NEW FRONT END, WIRING, 2 QUAD CARBS, GEAR BOX, DRUM BRAKES, PAINT, WHEELS, FALKEN ZIEX TIRES, SUSPENSION

So was it a Satellite? Sounds like the seller may not be a Mopar guy...my .02 worth. Dual Quad setup and rebuilt transmission...yes... 2 quad carbs and gear box.......not so much

I have a 73 hunter green 440 6pk clone car, SS console and correct gauges, modified 6pk motor nothing stock 6pk other than the intake and modified carbs, trans needs some clutches but nothing else...
looking for 6k

I already deleted the pic he sent of the damage, sorry.
Supershafts - 73 NOT wanted but thanks anyway.

Im sure he does ... he wants 12500 for it though. Not exactly a parts car price.

That does seem extreme for a wrecked car! Good luck in your search, there out there... Ill check the local paper when it gets here this coming week if distance isint a problem, (Pa, Ohio, NY) found a couple nice RR's in the same paper not long ago so its a shot! :)

Its a local paper everyone uses for lots of things but cars also, problem is here this seems to be a "Bowtie" area.

Its not that I haven't found several - they just aren't acceptable either quality or the price too high. This yellow one in Arizona has mechanical issues and needs paint/interior and they want at least 11500 - too much for those issues.

Flypaper - the yellow one seems to be pieced together from 70 models and such. Will you read the description and give me ur opinion?

RR-airgrabber-console-big block > small block - Satellite - bench seat

The 70 parts could be easily swapped. Rear view mirror, seats and hood latch items are all things that could be changed as "correct" parts are found. In fact I am pretty sure the "70 only" buckets are some of the most expensive bucket seats out there.

Thats not a GTX or Road Runner.Buy the car you want don't settle. It took me months to find my 71 not so easy to find.

I don't see anything pieced together from the description. Early built 71 cars had 70 bucket seats and some came through with 70 rear view mirrors. Nothing incorrect there at all. If it's as good as the photos appear, that's a pretty decent deal.

here is what i think

what would shy me away at that price
is the auto trans/missing orig engine more then the incorrect stuff.
that stuff is a easy fix swapping out some parts.
the number would need to drop a bunch
before i would be tempted in on it
just because of my logic.

imo
you want something that at least if you have to bail FAST
(life is very unpredictable)
you will leave not getting hurt and beat up.
you have to tread water at least..

my rule of thumb logic so you won't get hurt is

if the car is missing its numbers engine
at minimum it needs a fendertag and a 4 spd
to make up for it.
the fact is
4 spd cars sell faster then autos and that makes up a little
for the missing orig engine.
people will look past that.

if its a auto car it needs the numbers engine in it alot more
to make up for the lack of a 4spd to sell fast.

if its missing the fendertag or has a repo/fake one
stay away as those as they are the hardest cars to sell unless its cheap.
people look at a missing tag as a missing expensive part of the car.
now
if there is a color change it dings the value down also
another thing to consider into the equation.

i think if you stick to those guidelines
you won't get hurt in a firesale.

it took my brother over a year to find a certian project car that he bought
the money burned a hole in his pocket for a long time.
it had to be a 70 runner 4 spd car w a real fendertag
had to be complete, didn't care about numbers engine
and all the inner structural metal had to be nice...
not asking for alot,
but not as easy to find as you would think.

i still think at 20k and some patience
give yourself a few months,
you are going to get a hell of a 71-2 car
the creme of the crop rr 383 cars are fetching/asking mid twenties at best
and you are knocking on that door...
dante's old butter car went for around that and
jeff in mass is asking around that amount for his car
both are about as nice as you are going to find out there
that i have seen...

btw now my memory is jarred..lol

i think the yellow runner above is jimmy boros's car
it has been for sale on and off for a few yrs now
22k is what i'm thinking the last price was..

Am I thinking incorrectly that I should get the $7600 satellite with the 318 and just upgrade the motor later?

That Satellite looks like a decent car. Without seeing it first hand I'd say 7600 is towards the top for that car. Butterscotch is a plus. 69 and 71 color only. Owned several myself.
Looks like your wanting something to drive, playwith and have fun with. Maybe do alittle racing? If so don't spend your money on a #'s car.
