I've heard the veyron can wear the tires out in about 300miles if pushed hard!
You've read Purdy's book too.A quick statistic from the Pre-War GP cars either Auto Union or Mercedes: You could pass one at 100 MPH just as they were pulling away from a standing start and they would catch and pass you in a half a mile!
So here is my solution: I am going to rent a car with an instructor.
For a mere 999 Euros you can rent a Lamborghini Huracan. That'll do around 200 mph. If I feel particularly flush I can rent a Lamborghini Aventador for 1999 Euros which will top out around 217 mph. Or if I am truly feeling like having the once in a lifetime go at it, the Bugatti Veyron for 14,999 Euros.
You can see the website here for all the details:

Deer. Could you even imagine?? I bet a that speed, squirrel would send you for your last ride!I guess they don't have deer in that part of the country?
The quality of that video almost looks computer animated. Had to look twice and it's real![]()
If only there was a dedicated facility designed for guys (and ladies) to wring out the
vehicle of their choice in Germany....oh wait, there is!
On my bucket list (under the "ain't gonna happen, but it'd be AWESOME!" category):

By the way, there isn't any Bugatti's on the production car "fastest lap" lists on the 'Ring - they're heavy cars,
as you might imagine.
I watch a lot of 'Ring videos, almost compulsively. Nothing I've ever witnessed comes close to
road racing (I had my turn at it 30+ years ago, mostly at Summit Point, WV) so the ultimate of
that for any street-production car driven by an average shlub like me has GOT to be the 'Ring.
I'd about kill for the chance to try and get around the "Green Hell" in one piece, brakes smoking,
engine starving for fluids and me in a cold sweat from the exertion....
I get small tastes of that now when I'm feeling froggy, out here in the backroads, but it's not
the same.
Don't get me wrong - I've done my share of drag racing and I've wrung out cars on deserted
freeways too (which with the wisdom of age looks DAMN foolish now, like the video linked in the
OP), but hustling a street legal car anyone can buy (if they can afford it) around a track hard as
it'll take it is about the ultimate, least to me.
Cars at their most base elements do three things, after all - go, stop and turn.
You get to do those things best, safest, most responsibly, on a track.
