What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Were those already down or leaning so much that you had to cut them down? If it's the latter, looks like you have a bunch more to do.
Cleaning stuff up down from the storm. My wing will go under the leaners... hoping they stand back up, otherwise they'll get cut in the fall. Too damn hot today, it's 20c.

On to these Red Oaks after lunch.. they're right in my turn around.

pumphouse is operational with no leaks, so i thought i'd finish off my small 130ft. dock attached the 2 new shore pieces on that i didn't get done last year when i built the new floaters! there's still another 100ft of "T'' and 4 30' fingers to add on the end!left it on the ramp over night, too windy to try and move it into position today.

this is just one of 5 and 2 others are bigger, and the wife always asks why I'm not excited about putting in the dock at the house!

That's not good, and it's always where the spring fails, but usually, the door starts going up crooked and jams.

Can the doors be straightened out enough to still be used?
He might be able to push the damage out enough to use it. Damn torsion springs. :BangHead: :BangHead:

Pull it out, flat stock above and below the window mounted to the lip in that panel. Double check the up force on the door. That'll get you by.

The 16' door will sag in the middle when opened all the way. All that flexing starts to weaken the panels to the point that they even start to develop cracks. I've installed pieces of angle iron over the years to add some support but that will only last so long.

The night before I heard a noise out there and couldn't figure out what it was. There's always a fart car backfiring or a truck making some kind of noise around here. Next morning I went to back my truck out, hit the button on the wall and all heck broke loose. I saw the door going up crooked and I hit the button again. It wouldn't stop. Hit the button again and again and it finally stopped but the damage was already done. I hit the button to lower it, door started down, stopped and right back up again. I couldn't get it to park itself so I could unplug the opener. Like trying to stop a train wreck. Finally it did stop going up and down and I ran for the ladder to unplug it.

Crap my truck is inside and I need to get to work. I don't live too far so I walked. When I got home later I totally disassembled the door so I could get the truck out then straightened out the panels enough to re stack them just to keep the weather out. I'm still weighing my options on replacing them with something else. Maybe go with fiberglass or aluminum. I didn't need this to happen now. There's no big hurry so I'll see which way I decide to go.

The opener may be pulling in the center, trying to open with out the helper springs. May need a new door before it collapses on your truck at a later date. 16 footer’s are not cheap either. Good luck and be very careful if you remove it yourself.

That door after my comment should only be opened by hand till it's replaced. Up and down force is important or the closer will pull till it pops a reset or pulls itself from the door completely.

That's what happened. The one spring had broke and it was only lifting one side. Not being able to stop it from going up caused all the damage. I knew something was wrong the second I hit the button. I'm not reusing this door. It's seen its better days.

Yesterday and today, 14 hours so far swapping winter to summer tires on Daughter's Mazda CX-3. Just spent 4 hours gingerly working the right rear bleeder screw out. Penetrant, hammer, heat shock cool. When it finally came out I was down 5 std and metric wrench sizes! I got too bold cleaning up the piston so i could retract it and lost some fluid and let air in. Amazed i got the piston back in! She got her money's worth..

Okay, I caused that trying to seat the brake pads with foot on brake and gas at same time. Pedal position sensor code and engine Lean. Reset and good to go... now I can try to put some other piece of crap machinery back together around here. Backhoe pressure valve spool should be on the Purolator truck tomorrow... lol

They look like parts off the titanic. :poke:

I laid down 2000 pounds of sod.

20250502_091716.jpg

Putting the sod itself down is not so bad. It's the prep work to dig the edges that are hard. And I don't have dirt in my yard - it's mostly rock with a little bit of clay mixed in! :BangHead:

Ya, 33 years of it so far and I'm getting tired! It was a great idea when I was 30!
Been here just over 41 years now and quit doing firewood maybe 10 years ago. My 2nd X used to burn the fireplace full tilt and went through a lot of wood for living in an area that doesn't get all that cold. 4 cords one winter and I complained to her about that....even had a heatilator in fireplace. It was homemade but it worked! On a 32 degree day and no wind, the den would be 80.....
