What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Yesterday I fixed the broken toilet cleaning brush. Had to put a Helicoil in the handle where the threads had stripped.

Why? lol. Because I could I guess, and I did not feel like driving 10 miles to the dollar store and waiting in the checkout line to get another one that would break eventually anyway.

Still getting rid of stuff. Sold a 52" foot shear yesterday and sold a Cushman 4 jaw lathe chuck today for 50 bucks. The guy said he was going to use it for a rotating welding table. Sounds small to me but maybe he's going to weld small stuff?

Been working on a 6 foot x 2 foot sandblast cabinet last couple days, I am in to it 4 old bed frames and a sheet of 1/2 cdx plywood so far building the base.

I was getting annoyed with the sparrows and starlings and blackbirds stealing my fruit off the tree. Not content with finishing one at a time, they peck at dozens and leave 95% of the plum on the ground to rot.

Must have lost at least half my crop - first crop from this young tree - at 3-years old, I am impressed. The 8-year-old tree next to it that I have had problems with is huge, but barren - only had about 6 plums over the years and only two that the birds left me.

I suspect I am building a bird-proof cage around the trees shortly.

I've left about a dozen on the tree to ripen some more..... I actually installed some bird netting just before Christmas as the Starlings had already decimated the crop..... I tossed the half-eaten scraps outside for the birds to finish. Noticed some Wax-eyes had busted through - being a much smaller bird. Probably take netting off tomorrow and strip the tree ready for a prune.

 I might have to get out of bed early next Sunday and call Ruud (Gardening guru) on the Talk-Back show and tell him about my plums....again. The last time I did that I had him and Pete the Builder in stitches on air.

I bumped into Pete Wolfkamp last year at a trade show, and he remembered me when I introduced myself.

Finally a morning where I got up to less than 2" of snow and didn't have to spend 3 hours in the tractor, hit the shop so I could browse this "waste of time" while the Wife still sleep, LOL, while waiting for the liquor store to open. Went there, drug store for pop on sale and Walmart for some beach wear. This week can't go by fast enough...

One of the reasons I quit having a garden. Heavy netting and the birds still got in to get the tomatoes when the weather allowed me to grow them. Spent way too much in watering when it wouldn't rain for a month was the other reason....and got tired of spending so much time 'farming' the thing lol.

Sold a rear end spreader bar this morning for a Dana 60 and smaller but I modified it to work on a 70. Did that when I did a gear replacement on my 97 diesel some years back. Also transferring about 4 gallons of 80w90 into smaller and more manageable containers and doing that now.

I thought for a minute that you washed your nuts in the kitchen sink. But then I thought for a moment. My bad. Carry on.

Making progress on the blast cabinet, the top used to be a bifold door.
Should be able to wash a lot of plums in there.
It could be used for a chicken coop too, the eggs would collect in the hopper nicely and come out the drain plug.

Dang safety key broke on my 1954-64 radial arm saw.

Had to remove the slider.
Never did find the key piece.
...and then of course the buttons stuck and I had to lube them.
