I recently refinished my ac box. As of right now its back in the car and we are trying to get heat. I do not have any of the underhood components for the ac system. They will be purchased this summer.
Heres my question. What does the copper tube coming from the heater do? I can see that it expands to act as a switch of some sort but where does ut go? The service manual I have doesnt mention this part. Im assuming it works with some of the ac system I have yet to aquire. Or am I missing somethig else here? The previous owner was a total hack also, which makes it even harder to figure out as I dont know what he did except it was probably wrong.

I know with aftermarket setups like Classic Auto Air, the cut off is no longer in the compressor. Therefor it is a separate switch which actually needs to go on the heater box (not under the hood) which they NEVER tell you. They say it's fine under the hood on the fire wall wrapped around the output hose. It is a shut off for when the evaporator starts to freeze up. In any case, that may be what that is.

it goes to the heater temp control valve

I saw that pic on the charger source guide. Its a volvo valve but the only difference is the mount. 209 bucks online. Looking at my valve there serms to be parts missing to mount the capilary valve. Like I said the previous hack owner did nothing right so this just adds another chapter to the horror story. Maybe ill start a horror story thread to see if im not alone

Does anybody have a good picture of the guts of the heater control showing the capilary switch installed? Im still trying to determine if mine is missing parts

66 charger, but I would imaging that all the b bodies from 66 with ac are the same
