How do you eat an elephant?
One piece at a time.
If you take on too much at one time you will get overwhelmed and discouraged. Get a plan together to deal with one problem at a time.
Working on cars, for me, is fun because it is a challenge. I built a rusted out GTX into a nice driver that I enjoy every time I drive or look at in the garage. I brought it back to life for someone else to enjoy after I am gone. I had never done anything of this magnitude before, but I did it in pieces. One step at a time until there were no steps left. Now I just do maintenance and upgrades as they arise and honestly, it's kind of boring now lol.
I never had any help in the garage so I am use to doing it by myself. Evaluate what needs to be done to get it back on the road and dig into it one issue at a time. Small bites

Lol, listen to everyone but Dennis, 45* ain’t nothin for a good setup carb!The next drive. A smile every mile as they say. Drove to work today, and I am off in 30 minutes. Can’t wait! 45 brutal degrees in San Jose, but I have EFI.

Motivation is a rare thing sometimes ! I haven't touched my charger in years . I buy what I can as I can and store it one day I'll get in there and get it done and won't be waiting on parts at least !
Before I had the motivation but no money/parts now I have the parts but no motivation! Go figure!

To me, what's motivate me is that I own a cool car, I have a picture of a cool coronet R/T as a wall paper in my phone, no body is helping me in my rebuild, but every time some one see my car they ask me what car is this, ( the obvious question is this a charger 69 ) after I show them a pic
of a complete one, people encourage me to keep working, or at least not to loose faith, one day she will be complete and what a ride will be in her.

I can think of several members in the past that couldn't get motivated. Even one that was going to sell his project. After telling us their stories we were able to talk them into continuing on with their work. They now look back on this and are glad they picked back up on it. Some really nice rides too!

I have some of those folding beach chairs that are low to the ground. One day my GF had a long denim skirt on and I made the comment that it would look better if it was about two feet shorter. The next day she showed me that she had cut it off and plopped down in the garage on one of those beach chairs close to where I was working under the car and then she started reading a book. Having her in the garage is nice right until I noticed she was also Commando. Damn I love working in the garage!
Some of it I believe is just who you are, what you enjoy, strengths, etc the rest IMO is in your health. If your physically tired or lack a good mechanical understanding your never going to get much done which in turn kills what motivation you do have. For some reason I've always been wired to build, it doesn't matter if it's a house, garage, car, cabinets.... I just love creating things from scratch or bringing things back from the dead. The anticipation of seeing the finished product is all the motivation I need.
