So I'm wondering what slick you guys are having the best luck with? 69 GTX probably 4000lbs, auto. 590 hp. Has cal tracs. Will be running at a track with medium to good track prep. Looking for something in the 10.5/28/15

This was 9X30's on a 7" rim. Over 4000lbs, 4.10 gear, SS springs, and about 600 hp. Best "time-slip" pass, was 11.30 and 1.50 60ft.
I was warned to go slower or leave [lap-belt and no bar]. We re-jetted for the cold weather, left at higher rpm, and adjusted tire pressure. It went 10.89 on the scoreboard, but they wouldn't give me the time-slip...and told me to leave.

Gear ratio?

I like the venerable 28 ten-fifties by M/T . Have run them for years. The only question is running out of RPM with your ratio.

I ran radials on my 68 GTX. 11.20 @ 121. Drove to the track with them. Never had an issue hooking...

I'm currently running 10.5x28 mickeys that need replacing, with 10x28 hoosiers ready to go.
If I were you.... I'd try the Mickey Pro Bracket Radials (slicks, not drag radials)
10.5x28, or 10.5x29.5, depending on room and gear. X5 compound.

My street car weighs 3885 with me. Runs 11.0's. 4.30 gear with homemade leaf springs using the leaf pac on the stock main leaf from a Hemi GTX. 10.5x28 M/T. Never spins. Now has 9 way adjustables on rear making it quicker in 60ft, 1.53.

It’s a street car and with good to medium prep, you could put it on a radial and drive to the track. I ran a 1.30 60’ 5.50 1/8 mile at 4000# on the ET Street SS MT-3453 tire. After running radials at 160mph, I’ll never go back to a floppy tire.

O.P. asked about slicks, so that's what I suggested.
He would probably be fine with the biggest drag radial that will fit under the car, or a bias Mickey or Hoosier ET street type.
Tuning the caltracs might be necessary too

I think He doesn’t even need the biggest if it’s a 4000 pound car only turning mid 11 et’s. The 275/60 or 28x10.5 x15 tire is perfect.

Possibly not. But if I'm buying expensive tires to race on, I'm buying the biggest that will fit.
That's why there's an 18/31x15 Hoosier QuickTime pro on my car.
My car probably would be quicker on a 315 ET Street Pro.

This doesn’t need that much tire nor would those fit without significant mods. The 315 is a 30” tire and the 275 is a shorter 28” which, in this case, will work better with the gear in this car.

My car has 3.73 gears. It currently has 325/50/15 M/T drag radials. But I've been thinking of getting some 10.5/28 slicks on 10" rims to switch at the track. When I don't need the street tires. also GV overdrive

If I can ask, what would be the best rim width for the 28×10.5×15 slicks? 8"? 10"?

My mistake, what I meant was MY car would be quicker on a 315. I doubt a 315 will fit his car.
