My 2014 RAM suddenly had a "internal error" in the ABS module. It has been at the dealership "waiting for parts" for 8 weeks. This just doesn't seem right to wait so long for a repair. Last week I was told that Chrysler was releasing (?) 25 modules and 16 where coming "south". I'm in week 9 and still waiting for the truck to be repaired. It's not a warranty repair, is that the issue? Is RAM going away like Plymouth? WHAT'S UP WTH RAM?

Was it code C2200 or something else? Since it isn't a warranty issue, I'd phone around to other repair shops and see if they offer a quicker repair.

I don't think the issue is Ram or CDJR specific, there have been supply issues starting 5 years ago with cv19 that still haven't completely gotten resolved. I've heard many stories in recent years of vehicles stranded at various brand dealerships waiting for parts, and even recalls where the manufacturer can't fix until they get parts to do the recall.
In spring my friend had an issue with his '18 CTD Ram that needed a recirculation valve, something to do with an emissions system, EGR or def related, and they were forecasting October before they would have parts and a 5000+ backorder list on customers waiting for that part. He could drive the truck, but when towing he couldn't go over 45mph. I would guess it was a Cummins part not a Ram specific part needed. Cummins ISBs like used in diesel Rams are used by a lot of OEM truck makers.
He owns the truck specifically for towing his car trailer mostly during the fair weather months when our car show season happens, so that was a disaster for him facing losing this year participating in events! He was talking about trading the truck in for a gas Ram or even another make, or deleting his emissions, and maybe would have but the trade in values he got offered were way low. He finally got things straightened out by late June early July but I don't know the details if he got the valve or somehow came up with an alternative fix.
It's a mess.

They want you to trade it in on a new RAM and then your repaired truck will be on a used car lot within a week.

I understand all the manufacturers have major backlogs on parts for warranty and mechanical repairs and RAM is no exception. I monitor the RAM Forum and stories of months long waits for repair and warranty parts are frequent. Particularly if you have a 2019 or newer RAM with the e-torque system and the generator/starter goes out.

Is the truck driveable and still stops ok? I disconnected the ABS on the 95 Dakota because the light kept coming on and I don't like the way ABS acts. Now it acts like a normal brake system. I know the age difference is a lot but thought I'd ask.

Lack of available parts for modern, troublesome systems is nothing new. My wife's 95 neon sat in the shop for over a month at one point when cylinder heads were on national backorder.

Needing a new head is one thing but an ABS system is another....if the vehicle still stops well. How bout taking the Neon to a private shop to get the original head redone and sending the bill to Chrysler stating that the car was a necessary vehicle for day to day living and ChryCo couldn't come through??

You know I love ya like a brother, DJ; but good luck with that.

Hell it may be just a sensor too
one in the diff housing or on any of the wheels
or the speed sensor on the trans
that even kicked out ABS code (lite) on the dash
checked it (OBD2 port) it was a speed sensor on the trans, was the actual code
not sure on a 2014 Ram
my 99 Dakota 4x4 give me a ABS code in my dash
every so often if it sits for more than a week or so, low battery BS
it's not that low, a lil' drain from the computer & cloak etc.
but comes up as an ABS warning lite in the dash,
why is it the ABS lite ? I have no idea...
I can shut it off, quickly turn key back & forth on-off, like 3 times, not starting it
& the codes clear
or you can disconnect the battery for like 2 min.s
or I can use my Hypertech scanner OBD2 & see what the code is & clear them
it's the stupid ABS sensor on the top of the diff, I replaced it
& still does it "if the truck sits for too long"

I really hate the electronics stuff, aside form that it's a great truck

Asked a buddy of mine, who specialized in auto electric stuff,
mostly computer crap...
He said;
it's a glitch in the computers, sense low volts (below like 12.5) they won't tell you that
at the dealership
they want to sell you parts
when battery gets below 12.2? volts, after a week or so sitting, it kicks out a code
it will still start immediately, not that low at all, it's a newer AGM Red Top Optima 800 CA
not sure why it's the ABS lite & not the check engine, or some other code
so I just drive it, & then next time it starts "it's off" magically like an hr later
& otherwise it's fine, no ABS lite/warning, if I drive it everyday
or every few days at least...

A couple years back now it took 7 months, right after Wuhan Flu BS
to get a PentaStar 3.6 v6 new engine at out local CDJR dealer
(now closed, for the 3rd time in 20 years)
my dad put diesel in my new Gladiator Rubicon Launch Edition Jeep
drove it until it locked up, should've pulled over & called AAA
but no he wasn't gonna' wait, thought he could make it to the next town
after he realized what he did :BangHead:
(he was used to driving my 02 F350 7.3ltr PS Diesel dually, the green handled filler, still stupid move)
Yep he hydro locked the engine, when it only had 12,000 miles on it
in my over $51k Jeep
$14,000 later,
like $6,700 alone was for the NEW engine, injectors, fuel system to pan
(my Ins. covered it or he was going to pay for it, not me)
& waited forever from the from Chrysler, at the Ohio Jeep Engine plant,
to even ship the motor, the rest was
$200 an hr labor costs, another $1,000 & misc. fuel system parts
nucken' futs

I would never, ever, even once, let a vehicle of mine sit at a dealer for more than 2 days. Even if it is not drivable.
Are you paying insurance on it?
Do you have a car loan?

Ask the dealer who is going to cover those bills while your vehicle is inoperable because of their failure.
Because it is their failure, not someone else's, they chose to put the RAM on their sign and are the representative of that organization and their dealership IS RAM. Thus, it is THEIR failure.

I would also be scrounging for a used part and having a private mechanic install it. If it needs a computer flash you have the dealer do that and nothing else. I mean if I was being told a new part was not available for months at a time that is.
