When an electric vehicle can give you this kind of range & recharge in 12 minutes, I'll be swayed.

Here's the dashboard screenshot from a recent road trip in my F150....

What’s in that thing 80+gal tank? My car says 550 when it’s full, usually get around 400 mi out of it.

AAAAAHHH, didn't you forget the part about TOWING A BOAT??? Or did that slip your "CRANIUM"???:poke:

No slip up at all. I was just simply showing the range per tankful. The picture above was on the trip down to AK empty which gave me a range of 736 miles per tank full. Below is the average fuel mileage towing it back. A full tank (towing) gave me range of 590 miles.

@Richard Cranium : good deal with the truck, thing is, don't think a EV will come CLOSE to that while pulling a boat, probably because they can't pull a boat, which is my point, part 2. GET DAT BOAT IN THE WATER & ENJOY, in NH of course!!

Your title should also include..."AND when there's as many recharging stations as fuel pumps"....

It's being reported that the new electric F250 will have a range of about 360-400 miles and like all mileage estimates, you can always figure that it will get less. I can imagine that that towing the same boat, the range will be about 250 miles at best. Based on that kind of range, a vehicle like that is useless for any kind of distance driving, especially when you consider each "fill up" will take you about 45 minutes.

I don't care if the thing whistles Dixie, runs on flashlight batteries and exhausts unicorn farts -
I ain't interested.

I personally would like to be able to either have one or not, you know, the American way. Like peanut butter, creamy or crunchy. At this point, one size doesn't fit all and till then, I'm not in yet.

It's all about your personal driving needs. They work very well for some, not at all for others. Personally I couldn't care if they ever made another EV but they have there place in certain circumstances. My shop/work is a 6 mile drive one way. A few years ago I leased a Chevy Volt. I user to go back and forth on pure electric. Being a plug in hybrid was what I wanted at that time, on gas it could go 300 miles, electric 50-70 miles. In the 3 years I had it I used a total of 45 gallons of gas, more then paid for the $250/mo lease payment. I had driven 30,000 miles when I returned it. If they made a plug in small truck I might be interested

For a commuter vehicle driving short ranges, I think electric cars are good, but for long hauls, with their current form of power supply, I think an internal combustion is the way to go.

A 2 mile drive to the wife's office would be perfect but driving across the state to visit her mom, not so much. Why own 2 cars when one will do. I know, the electric has less emissions. By not owning that extra car that doesn't use gas saves me $30,000+ initially and the extra license, insurance and upkeep for the life of the car.

I think the bottom line at this point is how long it takes to recharge. I could live with 12 minutes, but, hours is out of the question for anyone traveling on vacation. Figure it out and we'll Talk.

With a plug in hybrid you can go any where as far as you like. She would be able to use elec only commuting daily then use the gas engine on longer trips and fill up the gas tank as needed. The Volt would go 300-400 on gas and then you stop at the gas station to fill up.
Pure electric is different

Of course electric cars are being sold as being environmentally friendly & green, but when you consider what is involved with the mining of the rare earth minerals for them, it's plain to see that they are anything but.
