I have the stock rallye dash in the '72 Satellite Sebring Plus (no tach or clock). The steering column has an anti-lock mechanism that may cause havoc mounting the tach on the column (the tach model IT-477 only comes with the little crossbar for mounting it in the dash). Trying to find some place to locate it so I can it's easily mounted, easily visible and looks cool. Thank you for any suggestions.

Not a lot of options that don't look retarded or hinder seeing the other gauges. Back in the day we would just screw them to the top of dash but since those pads are now over $1000 I would not recommend that.

Personally I would just get a rallye cluster but if that isn't an option then hung below the dash might be your best bet. Guess you could make a pod and mount it outside on the hood.

If you are creative you could make a bracket that basically slides onto the back edge and then has screws to hold it via tension, that way you are not having to drill a hole into the hood.

Of course there is always the hose clamp around the column...

It won't be 'NOS' once it has been affixed to your car.....just saying.

I had my tach (not vintage) mounted on the steering column, but didn’t like that it blocked speedo and some of the other gauges. I relocated it to attached to the bottom of the dash.

What? You're not going to use 3/8x3" self taping screws straight through the top of the dash pad?

(Gee, it boils my blood when I see that)

OP would have to find a "clock" cluster to do what post 7 suggests, but that's what my goal would be if it were me.

From YY1 post #8: "What? You're not going to use 3/8x3" self taping screws straight through the top of the dash pad? (Gee, it boils my blood when I see that)"

At this point, a hood mounted tach looks to be the most functional and aesthetically pleasing. However, not practical for this particular model tachometer. Actually, on top of the dash is where the tach was positioned on my '65 bracket racer ('65 four-door Valiant). Although no FABO have shown me that particular installation on a '71-'74 BBody, I'll have to think that option over for awhile.

If I remember correctly, i paid less than $100 USD to have the dash pad renewed (that's here in Mexico). Does not look exactly like factory, but I like it and the price was right. In the photo, you can also see how I also substituted the plastic dash faux wood applique with what a local carpenter made for me of real alder wood.

Oh, I thought I would mention that on my parent's new 1971 Road Runner that I drove to high school back then, I had our local mechanic install two 2 inch gauges in that factory plastic faux wood grain spot: a Stewart Warner oil temperature gauge and a Stewart Warner manifold vacuum gauge.
