Who else can't sleep?

Only got about an hour last night. Typical for a Mon night to Tuesday morning due to Tue-Sat work schedule. Laying there pondering. I asked myself. "Have I had more woman or cars in my life?" So the count began. Wasn't even close. Woman count was less than I thought. And cars ALOT more. Cars that got away? (Performance cars. Wont bother listing daily's and trucks)

Deep into the night my search came up empty for one US manufacturer. Oldsmobile. I don't believe I have ever owned an Oldsmobile. Weird. Nothing against. But drew a blank.

I don't have a very long list so I cannot add to it here. As for sleep??? Suffering from Sleep Apnea, COPD, and breathing issues. I was routinely getting a minimum of 4 1/2 hours of sleep and then just laying there in bed until the sun comes up. Add to that the ol', "Cannot Hold My Water" issue, 2 - 3 times a night I get up and drain the main. About 3 months ago, I finally have been getting on average 6 1/2 to 8 hours of sleep even after the trips to the John/LOO. Wake up, drain, and then right back to sleep and REM. I still however start to run out of gas around noon time, and will take a small power nap for no more than an hour or less which perks me up. I attribute my sleeping habits to my Cicadian Rythem being so messed up from my AF flying and jumping dates and numerous time zones for the out-of-sink I can get when it comes to sleeping. Add to that the Covid Dream Syndrome so many experienced doing the BS Pandemic, and my mind now is finally able to relax and sleep comes rather quickly. It has been said that everyone needs a minimum of 6 1/2 hours to 8 hours of sleep a night to recharge the ol' body and mind. I subscribe to that as a way to prolong life and maintain good health...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

I use Costco/Kirkland sleep aid. The active ingredient is Doxylamine if you don't have a Costco drug store has sleep aid with the active ingredient just need to look at label. I take a 1/3 of tablet. If I took a whole one Rip van winkle who be 2nd best.

50 now. Died once at 35 (five times actually - once in the ditch, twice on the helicopter, twice on the table). Ever since (head injuries were part of the event, too), sleep has been a luxury. I'll crash in the recliner around 10 usually, get up around 3, go to bed, lie there for a couple hours watching the clock ":" flash, fall asleep about five minutes before my alarm at 05:00....typical. Gave up caffeine and alcohol about 3 years ago (cardiologist's instructions) and it leveled out my sleep/crash, wake/tired swings a bit...but I still get by on about five total hours a night.

They had me on enough medications in the hospital that I have zero desire to take anything "to help me sleep". No thanks. I'll exercise (and I do - 6 mi a day on the mountain bike in nice weather; 10 mi a day on the exercise bike in the basement in crap weather along with 1000M on the rowing machine), and do stuff to get tired (like maintain all these goddamned cars!), before I'll medicate for sleep ever again. Ugh.

Cars? No particular order, other than the first 3 being...the first three ever for me.

Another night where the mind refuses
to turn off. I'm guessing it has to do
with age, as four hours sleep seems to
be enough, as I wake up clear headed
and raring to go. Takes the body
another couple hours to catch up
with the mind, but a couple cups of
hot black coffee does the trick.
I got to thinking about how many
vehicles I've owned since I was
awarded a drivers' license.
This list is not embellished in any
way. From the age of 16 to 68....
(and it would be great if I had the
proverbial 20-20).

One Mopar on the list....
So far my favorite
I've owned 69 cars, trucks and RVs. Many were parts cars.

Sleep? I have few problems there. I used to though....back when I worked out of town and had to be up early for the long commute.
Screw all of that....never again.
I took what was supposed to be a 1/2 hour nap yesterday...it went 2 1/2 hours.

I suffered panic attacks, anxiety as a result of Covid, and was not sleeping well.

It's sort of odd in my case, the possible "reasons" I don't sleep normally since cancer #3.
I heard from docs, wife, hell everyone telling me it was because I was afraid of kicking the bucket
again - but that's not it at all (I've done that 3 times at this point and if anything, I have probably
an unhealthy lack of fear of dying as a result).

There is that similar concern as @33 IMP alluded to (things to be done yet!), but that's been with
me my entire life. Add in that I got sort of used to being up in the wee hours after this surgery or
that procedure anyways (recoveries from a lot of that **** hurt like fluck, so rather than disturb my
wife, I just get up...).

No, come to find out, what are possibly major factors in my case are two-fold:
- I have the ol' sleep apnea thing - kinda scary to see how many times a night I literally stop breathing
(yeah, did the tests)!
- Turns out, your wiring/programming gets a bit altered with every flatline.
Further, the number of times one has anesthesia can seriously mess with things too - and brother, I've
had me some of that in the last dozen years or so.
The last time was a particularly bad experience (I wrote about it here somewhere; wound up with the
entire recovery room staff on me when I woke up, trying to hold me down from that one).
Turns out, one can have a theoretical maximum number of times to be allowed to be put under.
Go figure...
Also turns out, I've reached my maximum.
Wonder what happens when there's a next time now? Do I grow horns and fangs or some shiyat?

Never have been a real good sleeper, but for the last 10 years or so, 6 is a 'good' night for me. Biggest problem is that its not all at once; usually sleep pretty good from about 11 pm til 2 or 2:30, then awake until 6 or so, then sleep a bit more til 9 or thereabouts. Really frustrating. And not conducive to good health. Usually get real tired and sleepy about 4 pm too; of course, if I take a nap, I feel better but then it screws up the evening's rest... :(

as for cars - I thought I had owned a silly amount, but come to find out, I'm an amateur to many, if not most, of you guys! But I'll participate - even with the 'non-interesting' ones - and since some have included bikes, I shall too...

Just too many. And like you mentioned. Partials and parts cars? I'm only counting ones that were in my name, and drove. Lol.

Before I got my restless leg syndrome under control, I was luck if I got 6 hours of sleep. Most nights it was 4. Now I take a micro dose of THC. It really helps my mind shut off. It’s a little expensive, but it works for me.

I started to try and count all my daily drivers and my head started to hurt. I've been in the car business for about 40 years as a mechanic so like most guys I was always "trading up" sometimes 3-4 cars a year. Have only owned about a dozen cool cars. I've had my Savoy for about 30 years now.
As far as sleep goes I usually get about 5-6 hours on work nights and 7-8 hours on weekends. I've been taking melatonin lately but I still prefer some good buds about an hour before bed seems to work pretty well for me.

I just had a local's pub hot turkey sandwich. So going down for the count. (I hope that's all my brain counts this evening!)

Years ago there were medication ads for this "Restless leg syndrome", a malady that I'd not heard of before those ads began playing on TV.
Mirapex was advertised as a remedy but it carried some really weird possible side effects......
Gambling addiction.
Sexual compulsion and addiction.
Well, my legs aren't wiggling anymore but I owe the mob $50,000 from those Poker games and I'm not allowed within 500 feet of any bar, dance hall or high school.

Strayed from Mopar with a Pontiac and

Tried that as the wife has a
prescription. After 4 hours of
sleep, woke up with a dry mouth
and a splitting headache. Almost
worse than a hangover. Me and
anything pot don't mix.
My doc even prescribed some
pills for insomnia. Woke up
with a foggy head and very
disoriented.
It's now 2:30 am in my local
and am wide awake. Another night
of counting cars.

Strayed from Mopar with a Pontiac and
a Volvo. Curious.
My wife wanted a station wagon and the lemans was cheap and drove Nice. But it had lots of annoying problems the heat sucked and I ended up blowing 2 motors in it (well she did) because the throttle stuck open when it was below zero out.
Volvo again was one my wife wanted. Don't really like that one either. But it drives okay and doesn't wear tires at all.

Just woke after a 10 sleep which is as rare as hens teeth for me. Chronic insomniac describes me very well. I have been this way since the navy in my late teens. I worked night shift on the flightdeck and then add in General Quarters drills, conditioned my system to sleep incredibly light. Then add another 24 years in the army. Light sleeping was a virtue in that branch. Typically 4 hours is my nightly maximum. Last night was a rarity, but a welcome rarity.
Anyway, I am a little groggy and slow this morning from so much sleep. So, I will add my list of cars, trucks, and motorcycles later. I have had north of 50 so far. Wife calls me a vehicle king.

I have had well in excess of 200 cars in my lifetime, currently at 14 I own. I had started a list in 81? I think? It was front and back of a sheet of notebook paper at that time, went through a hell of a lot of them in the 80s. Everything was cheap and I was making great money.
