The L-class blimps were used as training airships by the United States Navy during WWII. Lt. Ernest Cody and Ensign Charles Adams were manning their L-8 Blimp when they disappeared on 16 August, 1942. The blimp was seen by a number of different ships and airplanes before it crashed to earth on a street in Daly City, near San Francisco, California. When the wreckage was searched, the two men were nowhere to be found. The case still remains shrouded in mystery,

if found I would of put in my pole barn and hung it from the ceiling

With over 11,000 of them built, it was important for the USAF to know what they were up against. Some Mig-21 copies were somehow 'acquired' and thoroughly tested by American test pilots.

Here's an interview of one such pilot, quite an interesting read on how it compared to American fighter planes at the time. https://hushkit.net/2021/03/16/i-fl...ives-the-low-down-on-americas-mig-21-fishbed/
Was that the incident many years ago where the mig pilot defected. I thought I remember we tested the aircraft before giving it back?
