Yes, the F-16 XL aircraft were used to investigate/demonstrate many interesting things.Interesting asymmetrical wing configuration on that experimental model.
The Fokker Dr.I Triplane was extremely popular in culture, mostly because Manfred von Richthofen championed it. He liked the aircraft's maneuverability, but it was slow, and had manufacturing and design problems. Despite how often it is shown in movies and pictures, it was in production for only a little over half a year with only 320 being built.
A clean looking aircraft for something that was designed in the 1950s. There's an example in the Royal Air Force Midlands museum in England.
Well, it wasn't built for aerobatics or handling. It was a test aircraft for high speed. It didn't really accomplish that either, the project was cancelled in 1964 before too many flights.Not much in the way of wings.
