No kids at home anymore (I'm a recent grandpa). I was thinking if I did have kids, I might try to limit the cell phone/gaming screens to a one-on-one basis with reading/playing outside/homework. That is, for every hour on the digital media, another hour spent off-line. I know, probably not a practical idea at all. That's what I get for thinking.

What are you parents out there doing about the (near impossible) situation? I even see one of the poorest kids in the neighborhood (a young female teen) has her nose stuck in her cell phone every morning during my daily walk.

Living in the country has it's perks, I don't typically have to worry much about this issue because they're outside often. Every once in a while I'll come home and find them on something, I'll usually throw the breaker to their rooms then walk out the door... it doesn't take long before they're outside too.

I'd be a 1 for 3, 1 hour media for 3 hours outside burning energy while you hide the phones!
