I am at the stage of my race car where its either go 440 or Hemi. Just wondering if there are any 426 Hemi Short Blocks out there for sale. Looking for something that has been rebuilt with forged pistons. Can be stock crank and rods, can be OEM or "over the counter" or World Block. Thanks.

Every one that I ever see the seller wants more for it than you could buy a new World block and aftermarket stroker rotating assembly for.

Do yourself a favour, go to a stroker. Cost is the same but the longer stroke works better with the Hemi head flow.

I have A 489 Hemi 66 block 68 steel heads ported by Modern cly head roller cam by cam motion ray Barton rockers Dave Dudek Intake engine was built for fast class made over 600 hp 30k

Callie’s makes the new block for mopar. They have an engine shop that builds and sells short blocks. I saw where they are selling short blocks with all new parts. For less than $11,000. It has Molnar crank, rods and Diamond pistons.

Thanks, thats not too bad.. considering what stuff costs these days.

it seems the price of Hemis are going down with a lot of people are going with a late model Hemi. The parts required to put it a muscle car are getting cheaper and the motors. My son just bought a complete low mileage 6.4 and the 8 speed auto for $4000. I still prefer a 426 Hemi

This is a decent deal,it cost me more to build mine. My engine made 631 hp,was about 35 grand with the FiTech dual quad efi.

It's crazy what these cost today. However, I am not complaining. I have about half of that into my Hemi, but I am able to do my own machining, I machine or fabricate my own parts when needed and we are W.D. or better on pricing with all the racing vendors so I do have many perks in this industry or else I could not afford to be in this hobby. Some samples, freebies and even some sponsors helps out greatly also.

I did my Hemi over a 20 year span,so it wasn't 35k all at one time. It is crazy what it costs to build them these days. My 426 Hemi engine will be done for around 20k all in,and will make between 500 and 550 horsepower.
