..... actually, back glass. I bought one of the 90 degree blade-type tools with the cable and T-handle, just wanted any tips before I attempt. I've seen other tools as well but know there's always tricks to help.

I've seen the 2 man operation with a handle on each end of a wire. Run the wire thru the seal, attach the handle, 1 guy inside and 1 outside and cut across the seal like a lumber jack.

Glass

let the car set in the sun as long as you can, you are gonna have to go real slow. I took my razor blade knife and cut all the excess out from the glass to the body, set in sun for awhile then slowly and carefully use your tool. I have also used quitar string with two people, one out and one inside car. Do everything slowly and carefully,or you will break your glass, if all ready broke, go for it.

Used the cable method by myself [lazy step-kids!]. WD 40 does a good job of softening/breaking-down that sealant.

Got it with the tool - not too bad but I'm sure the cable would be easier. I cut away all excess sealant, then sprayed with PB Blaster which softened things up a little and prevented cut from re-sealing to itself. I will wear gloves next time .... nasty stuff and hard to scrub off ! Thanks for the tips.

Oh yeah, and wear gloves, it's pretty nasty...lol.
I've got plenty of practice on my rear window. First time I put it in, I forgot the little spacer blocks at the bottom and the glass moved down on me. Leak.
So when I finally did get around to doing it, I repainted the pinch weld. I guess it didn't dry or bond well enough. Leak. So, now, I am going for the third time. Just sharing, helping folks learn from my mistakes. God knows I have.....
