Hello, I have just aquired full quarter panels for my 67 GTX. I am wondering what would be the best to do, replace the entire quarter panel, or just cut what i need off and go from there. Any body who has done either please give me your opinion. Thanks GTX

The best thing is to probably ship it to Zip code 97223 & I'll install on my car.........but if that's not an option I would say start cutting. Keep cutting at least 2" past any rust or damage. Then use your replacement panels. Might be easier doing the whole thing as oposed to multiple patches.

I am replacing both full quarters on my 72RR and I am going to take them off right at the factory seams so all of the welds are as close to the factory locations as possible. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to replace the full quarters because they are so bad and it is just going to be easier to replace both full quarters.

If you don`t mind telling, where did you find full rear quarters for your 67 GTX? I`m on the hunt for a set for one of my 67 GTX`s.

Quarter panels

Hello, I actually answered a craigslist ad for a 66 belvedere for sale. The seller said it was a parts car, the pictures in the ad made it look terrible. On a hunch i went to look at it in New Jersey. The frame rails were rusted out, the interior was gone, but the body looked rather good and the quarters on it looked great. I paid $800.00 for it on the spot. The seller had it on his carhauler and i did not have a way to get it home so he gave me a good price on the trailer , so i bought the trailer also. Long story short i bought the whole car for the quarters. Thanks GTX

I'm with you guys. I've looked and looked and they do not make a skin for a 67. I would just be happy to find a patch panel that extends from the door jamb to the start of the rear wheel house. I guess I'm going to have to be creative with the patch panels I have.

I bought a quarter skin for my '67 belvedere. It's not a complete quarter, they cut it short before it wraps around the rear of the car. Got it from a local guy who bout it off e-bay. I've seen these for sale on e-bay myself for around $140. Not sure if it's what you need but might look and see.

I bought the lower quarters off of ebay . They looked pertty goood until i went to install the chrome around the wheel well, the arch is not exactly correct. If you are not installing the chrome around the wheel well you probably would not notice it. Thanks GTX

Thanks GTX. I didn't even consider the trim issues.

I had to replace both skins on my gTx...Bought them from a guy on ebay...Matched up well...Nice thick metal...Both skins were about 1/2 inch short on the back of the fender well...No one makes a replacement...Lots of luck finding a good one on a donor car...

Funny you should suggest this place. It's not too far from where I live, about an hour away. Yea Ed might have something out there but be prepared to pay a price that might raise your dead relatives from their graves. But then again if he's the only one to have it..............
I tried buying a 1964 valiant front fender from him a few years back, it wasn't perfect which it didn't need to be but the $300 price tag didn't appeal to me. I built mine from 3 different fenders to avoid the cost.
Keep your eyes open or maybe even post a "wanted" ad on craigslist, I have gotten a very good response this way and MANY parts I needed.
Good luck.

I got a few things from them...Last time i talked to them they were crushing cars because of slow sales and the price of steel is high...Still it,s worth a shot...I started my build 5 years ago..Now there are alot of repop parts available.. You can use 4 door up to a point...

That is true, 4 door will work to a point. I believe its its the front of the wheel well that its different?

If I were you, I'd use the full quarter. If you were only needing the lower quarters, I'd use patches or find a 4 door with nice lowers. Full quarters are very hard to find and it would be a shame to cut them up for patches.
