I'm very happy and very proud of my friends at work that formed my new rocker piece for me out of the correct 16 gauge steel. It is a very nice piece!

And its on the car!

I trimmed and test fit until i was happy with it then i drilled the bottom flange for spot welds and primed everything with weld through primer.

Tacked it in place.

Bottom flange spotted on generously.

Burned on.

The panel i cut off.

More better.

I'm really happy runnerman. My metal work on the main body of the car is DONE!!

That means I can pull out the metal 2 metal filler, the epoxy primer, my body fillers and surfacing primers... A change of pace is a wonderful thing on a long project like this.

I agree, that piece does look good. I know that feeling well......reaching those milestones is like a breath of fresh air. Nice job on the install, the welding looked really good.

I was ashamed to say that after previously conceding to Propwash's warnings..

But I came out with the confession in another thread so... Whew, feels good to air that out.

Actually I had the car up on jackstands where I could get after my underside work while rolling on a floor creeper, and I had the car near one of my only welder outlets so I could reach with the welder...

I had all kinds of reasons for wanting to get all my under car tasks done I guess. So I experimented with a floor jack under the center of the car trying to measure any kind of deflection and long story short is that I gained the confidence I needed to weld the frame connectors in now.

It went really good, I also hit them with some POR15 while I was down there and I coated the bottom side of my floor repair patches with por-15 as well.

I started filling weld seams with metal 2 metal filler and that's going good, I think I will let the car down off the jackstands now so I can roll it into my booth where I have better lighting for the body filler work and of course so i can prep it for primer too.

Great to see you at this point! Won't be too long and the Tin Chicken and Ol' Skeletor may be meeting acquaintance's (A.K.A. Plymouth Road Runner's- sorry Sonny Black). I can almost hear the fill..sand..block........fill..sand..block.......fill..sand..block from here.

Did you happen to get a measurement for the foot pedal holes Dave? I had roofing tin, Bondo, rust and rivit's instead of a floor pan, thus-nothing to take a measurment from.

Hey Will, I saved the original rusted floor pan piece that has the holes for the pedal.

I laid it inside the car where it used to be and it looks like I will be able to use it as a templet to mark for my new holes.

It's hard to pick reference points for measurements for placing those holes, so much shape there, like referencing hole placement inside a cereal bowl.

Shoot! Gotta a pic maybe? I think if I get close enough, there wouldn't be an issue. It's not like the car's gonna be on a rotating dessert pedestal at the nat's or anything...as long as it works.

I'll get something for you to go by. It's going to be pretty forgiving because the pedal to linkage arm interface is pretty wide. I had my gas pedal inside there the other day to see if there is a slot we have to fall into or anything tricky like that. But it's just a wide ramp face on the back side of the pedal.

Still though, I'll figure a couple ref points for you and take a picture or something.

Yeah Dave...Red ropes and mirrors. Those belong in the bedroom, not around a muscle car....... The only thing that will be under my Plymouth will be the corpse of the neighbor's rat dog and the remnants of the BF Goodrich's..

Will, "go pedal" bolt holes:

Hook the tape on the front edge of the toeboard where it meets the firewall seam. Do this centered under the throttle lever like so:

pull the tape tight to 8 3/4", don't follow the conture of the floor pan but pull it tight.

8 3/4" seems right for both holes.

Now measure from the left edge of the floor pan back towards the trans hump...

I measured from the outside of this bend where the pan edge lays on top of the inner rocker.

Lining up with the 8 3/4" mark down from front edge of toeboard, mark holes at 17.5" and 19"

I used my old pan as a template for these holes.

Use these measurements to get you close then rest your pedal studs on the marks before you drill and see what you think for any minor tuning.
