How do you have the motor mounted? Solids, front plate, elephant ears ect... ??? I am using a set of elephant ears because I was advised that a 650hp motor should use them. Of course I prob. have made more work for myself.

How does this look?

Bud...You Dont Use BOTH The Motor Plate AND Motor Mounts....All Ya Need Is That Beautiful Piece Of Aluminum Up There....
WHATEVER You Do NEVER NEVER NEVER Put A Solid Rear Mount On The Trans Of A Long Tail......It Will BREAK..Believe Me!...

Good Luck!..Nice Job On The Mount Install.VERY Similiar To My Super Stocker.

SS

AND I Would Have Put The Angle Solid Mounts To The Rear Instead Of In Front Of Your Solid Engine Mount. That Way When Doing Engine Changes You Will Be Able To Get Trans/Headers Hooked Easier....

Dude why don't you give it a rest. You have no idea what my car will run. If you actually raced in NSS maybe you would understand that track conditions are not favorable most of the time for a heavy 10" tire car to run all out. We want to go rounds and win events. Talk is cheap, come out and run NSS and then we will see how far you get talking your jive

Hey Poppa..We Got To Admit Ol HEMI-ITIS Just Knows More Than We Do About Stuff..I Mean Hell Between Me And You We Only Been Racing For 60-70 Years Together. And Only Have About 40+ WORLD Records Under Our Belts And Enough Race Cars That We Have JUNKED(REAL RARE ONES TOO!)To Build A Race Track For..But WE Dont Have Enough Experience...

BTW...That Accumalator LQQKS Familiar On There..Thats A Fine LQQKING Piece..Wonder Where Ya Got That/!...LMAO

Thanks for the input on the no mounts and ears together. I guess I need to put a disclaimer when I posted those pics. I was only using the stock mounts as a template to get the motor in the stock location but thanks for the help.

And about changing engines: NO WAY, having to much trouble with this one

I Got To Thinking About That Later And Thought That MIGHT Have Been What You Were Doing.
ALSO What I Meant With Changing Engines Is I Have Mine In And Out So OFTEN(A GOOD Motor Is Usually Only In My Car For About 5 Passes Or So...)..Then We Either Take It Out And Put A Lesser Motor In For REGULAR Shows Or Have Scattered It By Then..Any Ways If This Is Only Gonna Be A Street Driver And Occasional Strip And You Didnt WANT To Have To Have The Elephant Ears On It THEN You Can Get Some Schumachers Polyurethane Mounts That WILL Handle The Power. The Schumacher Mounts Are Excellent. You WILL Have Problems With The Angle To The Front Trying To Get The Engine Into Place With The Ears Already Installed As They Are.

I Know How FRESH Set-Ups Can Be..Are Ya BALD Yet?...LOL
Good Luck And If Ya Need Any Advise Help PM Me...

Well SSH,you sound like quite an educated individual:yes:So maybe you can explain, cause I don't know too much about this kinda stuff.:sad:If you have 1000 + HP in a 4000 lb car that can get traction, would the car go 8.79,,,,,,or 9.79?????If you look at the pictures of POOPA J's car,it would seem that traction is available. So please,Mr. world record holder, school us slower misinformed people:grin:

What is the connection with the "Rod Shop"? Did Bruce Meihls do the engine?
I raced for years in Ohio, I had Dave Boertmans Challenger. I now live in Arizona, still racing.
How much did you think that Indy intake picked uo your motor? I have two max wedge cars, currently racing the Kirby and Kompany 64.
Just bought the intake and was wondering how much better for you then a max wedge intake?
How much HP? What E.T.?
Bruce and I have been good freinds for almost 40 years. Bruce now has "Fast Racing" All my machine work is done out of his shop. The Indy 440-25 is worth 70hp over stock max wedge crossram. Any motor over 600hp will see big ET increases with it. Can you tell me a little about your motor?

I am not understanding what you are saying about not getting the motor in with the angle of the ears the way they are? I have the motor and trans mounted in the pics that I posted?

The mounts that I have in the pics are the Schmacher poly mounts. The poly mounts were OK but the stock mounts to the motor were bent and the holes were wallowed out so I upgraded. This will be 95% strip 5%street. The poly mounts could have been fine but the elephant ears look cooler. If you can't be fast, look fast!

The most frustrating thing about this build is I have been BALD for 20yrs so I no hair to pull out so I think I am developing high blood pressure. I wish I was kidding!

Hemitis,
Every time you post a remark like this you are only making yourself look like a jackass . SSH and myself have been running these superstock mopars since the 70's. If you really want to see what my car can run all out why don't you quit flapping your jaws and come to a Chrysler Classic race . I guarantee you that it takes a lot more than you think to get a big B Body car into the 8's. Especially on a 10" tire.

PoppaJ could you post some pics of the front and pass side of your motor? I am having header clearance issues on that side. 2" Doug's reg exit headers, I had to notch out the shock tower to make room for the tube. It was laying against it so I notched it and need to weld in a piece to fill it in. I am probally the only person to have this issue:( but thought I would ask. If I messed it up, well it is to late now.

SuperStock hemi,
You bet I use that acumulator. You quality parts always come in handy on my cars. Is the SS/DA Coronet going to be out early this year. I really like watching that car run. poppaj

I will take some pics for you tomorrow Atomic. Seems strange that you would have to do that. Is motor in stock location??

I agree! I get tired of people that say" IS THAT IT?" or the ones that think it is easy to go fast! It takes a lot of power to get into the 10's let alone the 8's

Yes, I bolted it up today and the trans bolted up to it easily and the trans went in the crossmember easy enough also? Trans is also centered in the tunnel. The pics of the tower is MISLEADING 1: I cut to much off. 2:After I bolted them up they were rubbing on the tower point. If the motor was out I could have taken a ballpeen hammer and put a small dent and then they would have cleared. I had the motor in and out at least 5 time in 2 days so I thought the easiest way was to drop the header out the bottom and cut it out. The old headers (1 3/4") were real close also. 3: I could have left it alone and let it rub but didn't want it vibrating on it. I thought that I read in an old Mopar mag that they did this in some of the old super stockers to get the headers to fit.

I hope I haven't totally screwed this up but I most likely did!:black_eye: I should change the name of the car to ATOMIC BOMB

So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I,m the jackass flappin my jaws:rolling:It was you that posted that you had 1000 + hp in your 4000 lb car.It was me that questioned it and have been for MONTHES.Keep makin excuses.I don't need to travel to Ohio to see you go high 9's.Maybe the used bullitt with the B1 heads can get you to go 9.22.

How many of those "world records" do you have POOPA J??

I can't figure out why you even care??? I am just an old school drag racer that enjoys the sport and making freinds doing it. You will not see me bragging or listing any of my wins or acomplishments. I would really think you would enjoy racing more if you tried that attitude.

Atomic,
My 2-1/4" headers touch against the shock tower as well. I will post a couple of pics. AS far s your shock tower it is a easy fix so don't sweat it. Believe me over the years I have done a lot worse boo-boo's. The way I look at it you are out there trying to do it on your own, my hat is off to you! You will get it.
