Can anyone tell me the color of the roadrunner horn (69) that is kind of a cross between pink and purple.....much like the background color of this forum actually!
A Dulux code may also help.

Yeah, I've googled the crap out of it but can't find anything.

Cheers!

Does this help? I hate to say it but......the color looks similar to Hyundai Bellflower.

Yeah that's it and I'd normally print that picture out and take it to the paint shop but the printer is kaput!
The paint shop were aware of the Dulux code for B7 Blue so if the horn color has a code there is a good chance they'll have it on the system and I can get the exact color.

I'd take the horn in but there is not enough purple left on it to get a idea of what it would look like new.

Looks like Hyundai Bellflower it is then. lol

You could try emailing the pic to the paint shop....just a thought.

Purple is correct for 69-up but the 1968 cars it was black.

Could you order a Roadrunner horn in a non-Roadrunner? Better still, could you order a Roadrunner horn for your new Dodge? Surely not, two different companies.....

Reason I ask is that I just pulled a purple Roadrunner horn out of my 69 Coronet and it looks like it's been there forever.

Factory installed no, it was the voice of the Roadrunner and they would not whore it out to a lessor model as it was a BIG marketing thing then.

You could order Plymouth parts through a Dodge dealer if you had the part numbers so yes, you could order a RR horn and have the dealer install it. But who would. People would laugh at you. It would have no real "meaning" on anything but a "Roadrunner."

No doubt......... I keep reading that over and over trying to figure out if i'm interpreting it wrong, but the more I read it, the more I get pissed off...ARRRGGHHH!!! I'm hitting the sack......Cheers Aussie!

Totaly Auto sells the purple Roadrunner paint in a can!

Yeah, I have visited their website, they have some cool paint colors there but I can't get paint to Australia by air (=affordable) so it would have to come by sea, and when you only want about 6 cans, the freight would be more than the paint.

However, I sent a picture of a purple horn, as per redpolara's excellent advice, to my paint shop and he made up a can of spray paint for me. I'll paint it on the weekend and whack a picture up here. The decal should hopefully be winging it's way to Australia as we speak. I also got a couple of cans of B7 made so expect an engine bay before and afte,r post soon.

What don't you understand?

It means that Plymouth developed a car with a specific name that meant something to the age group of buyers they were targeting, a fast bird. The cartoon character was known for it's "trademark" Beep Beep voice. They would certainly not "whore" the voice out to one of their other cars that did not carry the Roadrunner name that they spent a lot of money marketing for the car.

I know the history of the Plymouth Roadrunner and their strategic marketing ploy back in the day...This is what I "don't understand" 696, inquiring into "whore out to Lessor models"...........not as later stated, "other cars that did not carry the roadrunner name". Owning both a 69' Roadrunner and 68' Dodge Coronet 500 conv., I wouldn't consider one "lessor" than the other, and i'm sure there is a bunch other Coronet or other "lessor" model owners that look at it the same. All in all, i'm sure you could have word that a bit more delicately.

Like I said, I went over and over your statement "lessor models", but the way i'm looking at it, you might as well of typed in "inferior", or "sub par". Maybe you meant "lessor" as in, not such as an aggressive marketing platform?? As in not as much advertising priority type vehicle?????? Who knows? I'm not one to squabble over words typed that can be interpreted 10 different ways so, I know i'm not going to waste anymore time talking about it..........Is what it is.......

Take Care

Take your feelings off of your sleeve. I was not trying to belittle any other model. Putting a Beep Beep horn on anything other than a Roadrunner makes no sence and obviously Plymouth didn't want it "whore out" to other models either. It would be no different than putting a Super Bee emblem on your Coronet 500. Not saying there is anything wrong with using appropriate parts on a clone or tribute car you are trying to emulate, just that back in the day it was something that no one would do nor did Mopar want it done.

Totally understand Plymouth's reasoning behind not mass producing the horn in other models, obviously for the marketing stratagy to be effective, the horn's, sticker's, and hoopl-la of the whole car had to be exclusive to that one model line. I also understand people back in the day leaving the horn where it belongs, in a roadrunner. It's an element true to the car. What I don't understand 696pack is what type of cars you consider "lessor"? A Coronet? Tribute/Clone? It's really just a bit tough to swallow the idea you're not belittling other product lines when you call them a "lessor model", that's all.

Is it alright to put this one to bed now? How much time do we want to waste over a horn and a sidetracked comment? You've been here a long time and i've always respected your opinions on other posts and threads. You and I just don't meet in the middle on this one.
