When you put your hand in the center of my deck lid you can push down and there is about 1/2" of travel before it touches the bracing underneath.

So I humbly ask the B-Body Warriors, how does one fix this without removing the skin?

my duster had the same problem, i live on a dirt road , it took all of a week to get on my last nerve, i whipped out my drill and a 1/4 inch bit drilled a couple holes in strategic spots and pumped a tube of caulking inside filling the gaps. now it doesnt sound like a trash can lid being thrown around.

Nice, is it nice and flat though? I just don't want any dips and sags.

the duster lid is a skin over a skin of bracing which i assumed is seam sealed or caulked before they are stamped/spot welded together . after time the sealer gets old and fall out of place creating a flexible gap. the caulking wont push or pull anything out of place, only fill the gaps .

i did this from the bottom side of course lol

Ok, I smell what your steppin in. Thanks for the tip!

lol , its the only way i could find to get anything between the layers to stop the rattling. it drove me crazy and i had no problem with drilling a couple holes. it is my daily driver. i also wrapped the trunk hinge torsion bars with rubber fuel line because the were banging against each other and rattling the package tray. i spent 2 whole days gutting the interior, sound proofing and rattle/squeek chasing

Its part of the charm of owning a classic mopar, i actually like the sound the trunk lid makes when you close it, because nothing else sounds like it!!!! LOL I did do the rubber line on the trunk hinge torsion bars!
