Just Golf Baby
So Budnicks...You been holding out on me. I am in the same racket as you. I am a Golf Teaching Pro and also a club maker and builder. I do fittings as well. Been in the business now for the better part of 25 years. Got an "A" Game to boot. So where is the first hole and what's the course record????:tongue5:
:iamwithstupid: Unfortunately I don't golf a whole lot, well right now anyway, I use to golf sometimes twice a day during the week, when not working or racing... I was a golf addict...LOL.. I had back issues the last 3 years or so, compressed disc's & 3 bad vertebrates, right between my sholderblades... I just took a long break, to heal-up, I will maybe start playing some again soon,
I haven't forgot how, I can actually even get a USGA/NCGA handicap again too, because I don't have any Professional status any longer... But I've been doing some form of golf, playing, fitting, instruction, tournament play for about 25-30+ years or so now too, not much when I was younger, my Pops golfed & I thought golf was, just for old men in polyester pants/cloths, to get away from their wives...LOL.. I was a racing, football, baseball & track guy,
not golf...LOL... I got tired of always paying someone else for such an easy thing to build, like golf clubs, I liked to try allot of different equipment & it can get very expensive, if you don't do your own stuff... I 1st started building clubs for a few of my racing buddies, paid for my stuff sometimes, we would all go to play days we couldn't qualify, when I was away from home racing mostly... I played for a couple of years before even posting a score or keeping score even... I had friends that wanted me to play in tournaments, so I stared keeping score & got a handicap, found out I was allot better than most of the people I played with... Then took the Maltby & then Advanced Golfsmith schools, I pretty much knew about 95% of what they taught me already, but wanted to be accredited... I tried to play the Hogan Tour{prior to the Nike Tour}, Pepsi, Maxfli, Topflite, Calif. & Sunshine or other select mini tours, not much money to be made... I barely paid for my expenses, I devoted 3 years of my life, putting everything on hold, playing & working/practicing or trying to be
just a Professional Golfer... I never got anything more than a conditional status, or just Monday qualifying... There are allot of really good, young, strong golfers, that have held a club & been playing since birth almost, coming out of colleges & had instruction their whole lives.. I was the old guy, in all most all my groups, until I joined Oakhurst CC in Clayton Ca., while worked my Construction consultation company...LOL...
I'm not affiliated with any course or tour, "at all, any more"... I then moved from the SF Bay Area, Concord Ca. were I lived most all my life, moved to Rancho Murieta in Sloughhouse Ca., east of Sacramento off Hwy 16/Jackson Hwy, a great Gated Golf communityty @ Rancho Murieta CC, 2 great hard golf courses, from early 1997- Dec. 2007 played about 350+ rounds a year, practicing allot prepping for the Senior/Champions Tour, when I turned 50 y/o... I only got worse, not better, went from shooting 66's to shooting 76's...LOL... I owned a small Pro-shop for awhile also... I purchased a house in East Sonora in 2004, put my Pops in it, while I stayed in RM & I latter moved to Sonora Ca. area in Dec. 2007, closed my pro-shop, to buy a golf course with my Pops, have a family legacy type thing & have the Pro-shop at a golf course, you have completely different buying power, when you have a "Course Affiliation/Ownership" {
move my old Pops off the mountain with 5' of snow all the time too, kill two birds with one stone sort of}, unfortunately the market took a big a$$ dump in early 2007, about 2 months before I moved & finally sold my house in Rancho Murieta, for $100k less than the peak market prices... I lost a ton of money in the market, about 40% of my portfolio at that time, too much risky high dividend stock, 401K crap & mutual funds taking a dump, that would have been a big part of my start up or borrowing capitol & my Pops was going to contribute too, things just got worse from there & here I sit today, telling the whole damn world, my life story now...
