After 5years as a daily driver, my '72 Plymouth is finally going in for bodywork and paint. Very solid car, was originally a green on green on green car. It is going to be orange with black interior, with 72 road runner stripes. I'm trying to figure out what color orange this show car is? Would it be close to a factory dodge color? How could I get the paint shop to match this shade? Will look close to his road runner with RR hood! Thank you for your help!

I love that color combo! It looks a bit reddish for factory hemi orange. Almost general lee orange.

I'd keep it green, because the orange is overdone. But if you have to have orange I would do EV2 as it is a 72 color.

orange over done? Are you on meth? That orange 1972 looks like pure sex!

Miked

Tor-red is the plymouth name for hemi orange ev2. Paint that sucker sassy grass. Although it was not available in 72. Black always looks nice on these cars. Good luck with what ever color you choose.

the orange in the pic looks pretty close to the EV2 70 Sat i used to own. Are you going to go with the orange seat inserts? the car you posted looks really sharp

Satellite project

Thanks for the input! Ya, I think is is the EV2 color. I was looking at doing the orange/black houndstooth cloth insert with black vinyl on the bucket seats, but they are some $$$$, over 1300$ for everything, so for now I have the black vinyl and can swap out once I'm rich and famous! here's a swatch of the insert from a plymouth e-body.

Looks EV2 to me, and I disagree it is not overdone, but I might be biased. I never saw the orange/black houndstooth, pretty sweet!

Orange is WAY over done on these cars, granted I have an original EV2 car and I think it looks fantastic. There are probably 6 original EV2 cars around here with another half a dozen orange clones around. Last time I checked the classifieds there were 5 71-72 cars for sale and every single one was orange. Its like B5 69 Chargers, they are everywhere! The orange and black interior is cool, but its not very unique as it too is very common. The Houndstooth though would be sweet!

Where are you seeing the EV2 cars for sale? I am researching the market for them now.

Just look in your local auto traders and ebay, you'll see them. Maybe one will just end up in your driveway without even searching for one like the one that found me.

Thanks for the info! Ya not too many muscle cars period in North Idaho, so it would be neat to be one of the few mopars to be in the car shows up here, dominated by chevelles and novas! Am the only '71up plymouth that I know of in town! Gotta be different! : )

Actually I am in the process of selling all my project cars (keeping the 2 finished ones). One of the projects is a lower mileage, unrestored 71 EV2 SSP.71 Sat March 2013 1.jpg

EV2 looks good but if your going orange EK2 vitamin c would be just a little different and would look a lot better, ev2 looks can almost be mistaken for red in certain lighting

'72 Satellite EV2 paint!

Beenworking on the Satellite for the past 5weeks and finally got fresh Tor-Red paint on it, I like it! Take a look!

Your car looks great, keep posting pics! I would stick with the black interior too. Two tone interior would be too much...but that's just my opinion and you look like you've been doing fine with out me : )

Plymouth!

OMG dgraver! That's pretty darn what I'm looking for! I was going back and forth with doing a vinyl top but with the chrome and black stripe etc. I think that's enough to break up the orange!

Will be doing chrome bumpers also still and the Road runner hood.

Anyone know where to get the rear valance black decal? Also measurements for placing the '72 RR strobe stripe over the roof?

Will have more questions very soon!!

-THank you!

Looking good! The rear valance decals didnt come on the 72s, only 71, so you have to order the 71 version. The decal comes in 2 pieces per side, I ordered the lower sections then cut it to fit the valance to my liking. I believe I got mine from Dale's Cuda Shop and he gave me a deal since I was only ordering half of the decals. I like the look of it, something to break up all the orange, especially with me having painted bumpers.

That is a great looking car! Thanks for the info on the decals, I found that webpage so I'll have order a set! Also, what size rims and rear tires are you running? I have currently have the cop wheels with 245 60 15, I think those wheels are 15x7. What thinking going 15x8 on the rear and maybe a little wider tire also?

Getting the 8 3/4" rear ready to go, will be running a 3.55 suregrip with a 400 4speed. Should be fun!
