I just finished my trunk in my 68 Coronet. Both extension panels, rear support (behind bumper), patches, and mini tub. If yours is as bad as mind was you will need to buy repo panels. I got mine from AMD, great quality and not bad on fit. Get a spot weld cutter w/ replacement cutters. Center punch and drill spot welds (slowly w/ cutting fluid). Clean all old metal and weld thru primer it. Get a set of clecos (eastwood.com) Fit Fit Fit. Drill holes (about 5/16-3/8) in the new panel about were the spot welds were and rosette weld the new panel in. This will mimic the factory welds. Fab patch panels were needed, leave about .040" gap between old and new metal. Weld all the way keeping heat low by moving around stich welding, no beads. Flap wheel or use a high speed sander. Use body seam sealer over factory seams and anything not fully welded. Hope this helps

No, you haven't done anything wrong...LOL... that line "Fill your library, Before you fill your garage" is my signature on every post... most people here have a signature, along with an avatar on their profile settings, that goes on every post...

Oh Ok...Thought I was in the penalty box..I dont mind doing the research because i have filled the garage and not the library..A Nod to God on that one..No kids so its cars for kids..If you can tell me a book or a direction to go i will do my homework..trying to get more involved in the fixing/restoration part of it all
Thanks

I would say 1st book is the "1968 Plymouth-Factory Service Manual" for all Plymouth's or even get a Factory Service Manual for the Specific model 1968 GTX... there is a wealth of information in both, engine, wiring schematics, transmission, rear end, drivetrain, interior, trim, carburetor, exhaust, etc... Maybe try Mancini Racing, they have them in CD or Book form... there are a bunch of "How to Books" on many different subjects, well worth the $$$$... good luck with your 68 GTX project
