Long story short, through an odd series of events I am the soon to be owner of a 1968 Road Runner. I'll spare the details of how it came to be but let's just say that I'll owe my coworker a few beers when I finally park it at my house.

My coworker sent me a picture of "an old charger" and asked if I wanted it.

It looked like a pile of crap.

But I told him I'd come look at it.

A month later I finally get to see it.

It still looked like a pile of crap.

Covered in 20 years of dust.

And probably full of holes.

Thanks kiwigtx.

I didn't know I had to wait for the thread to be confirmed by a mod, but here's the rest.

Turns out it's not full of holes and rot.

It actually seems quite solid.

The drip rails don't have any sign of rust.

The biggest problem is the lack of an engine.

If you'll notice from the pics, there is a lot of "stuff" laying around this 2 acre plot. All I have to do is help clean it enough to get the car out and it's mine.

I don't want to post pics of the property but it will take about two months of Sundays to get it out. It looks like it will be totally worth it though.

I admire your constitution! we will support you in the end! Every Roadrunner deserves somebody to save it,
Get going I say!

Thanks, but as soon as a moderator approves my next post you'll see that there might not be a whole lot of work to make a respectable mopar out of it.

Good man, the car needs to be back in the world.

That car looks surprisingly solid given the first few pictures showed a bombsite. I think you have lucked into a good car there. Congrats, and keep us posted on the restoration...it will be worth the effort. :headbang:

agreed. Thats in better shape than most projects I have seen lately

Congratulations and thanks for sharing that. I'd get it out of there ASAP and not clean the actual car anymore until I could pull it out. Just clear around it and clear the path to get it out before someone comes along and starts telling you buddy it's worth a mint.

Good luck!

Awesome find!! And whats better than FREE!! You can get a big block motor for it pretty easily. Just ask around here.

X2. Great looking car - that one looks like it may even be fun to restore lol.

looks surprisingly "solid" for where it's been stored, ya' gotta' love Calif. Cars... Good Luck, love them 68 RR's

great find! and agreed, get it out of there ASAP before your buddy sees Barret Jackson.
I got a free '69 runner once, it took a lot of work, but I had more fun with that car that any other. keep us posted.

Thats pretty cool and will be a nice project to get into! welcome to the site!! I think you need about 10 posts and then there shouldn't be any delays posting...

sweeet! thinking out loud here, but get some sort of bill of sale or something before sinking a dime into it; they may come back after it's restored and have some claim to it...not 100% sure but a little CYA now may save you a lot of grief later...
