2014 4th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Make Your Picks and Light 'Em Up!

Congrats this week to game point leader memike (FABO) for winning the Top Qualifier title at the Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona with a total of 27.5 bonus points. He picked the #2 qualifiers in Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle, the #3 qualifier in Pro Stock, and the #6 qualifier in Funny Car Motorcycle. Way to go memike!
71dartswinger (FABO) is right behind with 27.0 bonus points. He picked the #1 qualifiers in Pro Stock, the #2 qualifier in Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle and the #9 qualifier in Funny Car.
Budnicks is the top FBBO picker with 26.0 points.
Way to go all!

This week 23 players [I still haven't seen anything from bad440 (FABO) or super-bee_ski (FBBO)] picked 21 different driver combinations consisting of:
* 7 different Top Fuel drivers. One head-to-head matchup in Round 1 of eliminations between #6 qualifier Spencer Massey (2 picks) and #11 qualifier Shawn Langdon (2 picks). There is also one possible head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 6 different Funny Car drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between team mates #8 qualifier Robert Hight (1 pick) and #9 qualifier Courtney Force (2 picks). There is a potential of 1 head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations. What is very interesting in Funny Car due to the hotly contested battle between DSR driver Matt Hagen and JFR headman John Force - and begs the question of whether "team orders" may be in effect in later rounds of eliminations - is that all three JFR cars are in the top half of the 16-car bracket and all four of the DSR cars are in the bottom half of the bracket. If all four DSR cars win their opening round race, they will be the only funny cars in the bottom half of the bracket for the final three rounds of eliminations. It will be interesting to watch to see what happens if this should happen today.
* 5 different Pro Stock drivers. No Round 1 head-to-head matchups, and a possibility of only 1 head-to-head matchup in Round 2 of eliminations.
* Only 3 different Pro Stock Motorcycle riders with #4 qualifier Matt Smith (4 picks) by himself in the top half of the 16-bike bracket, and #2 qualifier Eddie Krawiec (9 picks) and #3 qualifier Andrew Hines (9 picks) in the bottom half of the bracket. Eddie and Andrew could possibly meet in the semi-final round of eliminations to decide the 2014 Pro Stock Motorcycle championship.

Hey guys, I'll have the final results posted in a day or two. Sorry for the delay but yesterday was my wedding anniversary and, as you know, ya' gotta keep momma happy! I would have been stretching my luck with watching the Finals on TV and taking the time to do the game results.

Way to go Bud!
Think there was any teamwork being done in DSR camp?? How about the interview with Capps about racing teammates straight up. Then when Capps and Hagan meet Capps has lane choice and Rahn Tobler takes the **** lane? Tommy Johnson was running 4.0's all day, meets up with Hagan and smokes the tires... Good for Matt Hagan and DSR, the beauty of multi car teams. I'm sure Force camp would do the same, but its kind of a shame it has to go down like that.
Prostock, now that was exciting. Just wish Jason Line couldn't have red lit so bad. LOL

DRS funny stuff, all race for the trophy yeah right !!
no one with lane choice took the right lane,
unless it was another DSR car racing Hagan or Schumacher...LOL

Congrats to Erica she earned it,
as much as I dislike her "whinny bitchy attitude"
{sorry ladies, it has nothing to do with gender}
when she's behind, down or gets beat, by anyone...
Then she also takes off 2 races mid season, with a points lead ??
& especially her lame interviews, but she won the Championship...
kudos for her & her team

I should have picked her more,
if nothing else but for all the little points in qualifying...

Congrats to Hagan & all his DSR team,
for all the help in beating the 16 time F/C Champ

Congrats to Hines for winning P/SM,
even if Harley has a distinct rules advantage

Congrats to Schumacher, for his 8th Championship
I just wonder if he could win one with out Daddy...

Summit guys & Line came so close, could have won by 1 point
but really red lit the finals -.22 , something like a 1/0th more red than Erica did

Kalitta gave it a valiant effort, qualify great but not enough winning,
but he comes up way short again, especially with all the success he had early on...

I wish Jeggy a happy retirement, from P/S "again"

I hope Mopar & all the assoc. cars do much better next year,
especially in P/S

I wonder what manufacturer JFR will run for bodies next season,
GM maybe ? Caddy maybe ? I hope not a Toyota, but Dodge would be cool too...
I saw he now has Lucas Oil, Peak Antifreeze, Blue DF as sponsors
for his car & Britney's T/F car next season
along with Courtney's Traxxas & Roberts AAA Insurance/Club

I had 2 winners, a runner up & a 1st round loss

Hey!!!, no one congratulated me for jacking Buds' picks????

Did you guys hear that Mark Ingersoll is out at J&J Racing? That's a shame for us Mopar fans.

And yes, Hagan's DSR teammates gave him some help, I would say. But I was glad he won the championship.

Congrats Bob!

I haven't heard about Mark Ingersoll Bel. Just did a quick search on the net and didn't see anything. Where is Yates? Didn't like him when he was racing but he's OK when he was with J&J. LOL

Haven't seen that yet about Ingersall J&J racing....

I completely agree with you about Enders.
What about the semifinal prostock race with side by side .000 lights? Amazing lights being under pressure.
And Jason Line would have lost anyway. i think he was .02 slower.

that perfect lights in both lanes was pretty cool she had to earn that round...

Did I ever tell you guys about the time that I had a perfect light? :)

Did you see the pics of Erica at the awards?? :censored:

any final points tally ??,
who won the whole enchilada ??

it was close for the top guys there at the end...

B-Body was represented very well

There are some exceptions.:)

Thanks for being patient - like you had a choice, right? Wow, I said the same exact thing last year on the final point total post! Might as well use the same format and just change the pertinent information.

The 2014 NHRA season is done and the champions crowned. Congratulations to Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), Matt Hagen (Funny Car), Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock), and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) for their 2014 NHRA Championships!

Now to our game...
Congratulations to 'alsant' (FBBO) for being "Top Picker Eliminator" for the AAA Finals, the final event of 2014, with an outstanding point total of 169.5 points with a class win in Pro Stock, semi-final wins in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle! He also picked up bonus points in both Funny Car and Pro Stock.
'memike' (FABO) was the event runner-up with an almost equally outstanding point total of 167.5. 'memike' picked class winners in both Funny Car and Pro Stock, the class semi-final winner in Pro Stock Motorcycle, and his Top Fuel pick went two rounds before losing.
Way to go, guys!

I hope everybody had fun with the game again this year and hope y'all return for the 2015 game. Tell your FABO and FBBO friends and let's grow the game some more next year.
Almost three full months until we get to go NHRA racing again. The 2015 NHRA season kicks off with the 55th Annual Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, February 5-8, 2015. I'll post reminders around the middle of January for the 2015 game.

Enjoy the off-season!
