Center consoles

Hi, new here and I've just begun researching 1966 Belvedere/Satellites for a future acquisition. I've got a question regarding bucket seats and center consoles. I realize that these were standard on Satellites regardless of auto or 4 speed, but was this a factory option on Belvederes, and, if so, how common was it?

Satellites had the console as standard, and could be ordered without, if the customer desired. All other Belvederes had bench seats, that I am aware of; and I've been around '66 and '67 B-body cars for nearly 40 years. Not saying buckets and a console in a Belvedere II was impossible; just very, very unlikely from the factory.

The brochure lists both bucket seats and the 4 speed manual in console as separate options. I suppose if one wanted those options they would just pony up for the Satellite, huh? I'm also curious if a Belvy could be ordered with the auto in console or was it invariably on the column only.

OK, will do!

In a Satellite, Charger, or a Coronet in '66 or '67 (to include R/T & GTX in '67), you could order a console with a column shift automatic! There was a "shifter delete plate" over where the floor shifter would've been. I've seen 3-on-the-tree '66 Chargers with a 318 or a 225 over the years, as well...with the full Charger console.

Yep. Used to be a member here with a poly 66 Charger 3 on the tree with full console.

I've seen a few Belvederes with 4 speeds and consoles (I'm sure I have, right?).

There are a lot of reasons why someone might want a Belvedere with those options, but not want a Satellite.

My 66 Coronet 440 had A/C and power windows from the factory. Both MUCH more common on 500s.

OK, I think I've got it. After closer reading of my brochure, bucket seats were NOT listed as an option on Belvedere and it would appear that the Belvy could NOT be optioned with the console mounted 3 speed auto, but if the 4 speed was ordered, did it come with a short console or was it simply mounted with a boot?
I know, crazy questions, but I'm trying to figure out just how many configurations came from the factory to compare what's out there now in these cars. I'm all about OEM stuff and would like to know what my chances are of finding a OEM Belvy with buckets and a console shift, you see, I like the exterior trim of the Belvy II but with the Satellite's interior.:icon_wink: I'm probably not going to find that as built.

Nah, perfectly good questions! Yes, the four-speed could be had in any Belvedere series, but it would've been a stick with a boot, no console. The Satellite could be had without a console but with buckets, if a customer so desired. No bench with the Satellite.

The center arm rest (buddy seat) was also an option.

I'd look at the dealer books on hamtramckhistorical

^^^Good source, that is!^^^
