Which intake will work with the N96 Ramcharger hood on a 69 Super Bee ? I've been looking at the old tried and true Street Dominator and the Performer RPM . Any real world experience ?

Thanks

It will have to be a manifold that has the same height as the factory cast iron whether for a 383 or 440, Performer rpm will not work. Will probably have to be a fairly flat manifold.

You will have to use the Edelbrock aluminum RPM manifold #2186 (not the Performer RPM) and then use the shorter version air cleaner base (440 version is 3/4" shorter than the 383 version) to achieve what you are looking for. I've done it and it works. I took a lot of measurements on many different manifolds to come up with the data to figure out the height differences to make it fit under the Ramcharger hood. This manifold provides the highest air flow I could find yet is still short enough to allow use of the Ramcharger.

This is of course assuming that you have a 383 or 400 LOW BLOCK engine that is in the car. If you've got an RB engine, then disregard this post, you are on your own.

Here's a pic of the assembly, of course you can't tell from the photo that this is the RPM and the 440 air cleaner base. But that was the object in the first place, to make it look like a factory stock setup.

guess what I'm going through the same thing right now 69 Coronet a n 96 Ramcharger Hood Want to change out my carburetor and intake 440 read hot rod article on different 440 intakes dyno pull can't afford purchasing intakes just to try and n96 looks awesome any experience with rb figment would be great

6pak intake or MAYBE (?) the weiand 8009, if you can find one, nothing else without modifying the air cleaner base.

Tarantula/Victor single plane.

Aren't single planes generally always taller than dual planes? I did not compare any single planes in my original search as I did not want to lose low end grunt. I was building a street engine, not a race motor.

You are certainly better off not running a single plane on the street and yes, more often than not, they are taller. The TM6 is an exception where height is concerned. Low end grunt would be lacking though as the usable power range is 3 - 7000 RPM. You could absolutely get it to work but it would take the appropriate combination of all critical pieces.

I have been studying and looking at lots of info. It seems like the Holley Street Dominator on the 383 would be really close. I may be wrong. I know its no longer produced but might could be found.

I do have a Mopar M1 dual plane, which is essentially the '70 - '71 hi-po 383 intake cast in aluminum. I'm kinda hanging onto it though.

Before I installed the Performer RPM I was seriously considering the Weiand Action Plus 8008. Seems decent numbers wise (idle - 6000rpm) but was on backorder...it's factory height. Would certainly work in your application.

It's fairly close to stock height, but not quite. I measured it at 0.805" higher in front (A dimension) and 0.185" higher in back (B dimension). Using the industry standard of adding the two dimensions and dividing by 2 for an AVERAGE height (A+B)/2, you get an average height of 0.495" HIGHER than the stock 383 manifold.

In contrast, the M1 is A= 1.010" Lower, B= 0.025" Lower, (A+B)/2= 0.517" Lower than stock cast iron 383 intake.

With respect to the original question however, either of these intakes would be worth a look.
My nod would go to the Weiland.

what critical pieces are you talking about

go old school and run it without the hood. then you have a plethora of options.
