By far my favorite carb has been my current Q series Quickfuel but after a talk with my supplier today it seams that ship has sailed. Just like when I bought my first Demon, terrific carb........
Holley swoops in and buys them up turning them into just another carb. Fed up with both Demon's and Holley I bought a Quickfuel this time around and really liked the quality and performance making it my go to carb but NOOOOO..... Evidently Holley got buthurt again about being beat at their own game like with Demon and bought Quickfuel too!! According to sources that dealt directly with Quickfuel they've already wrecked things to the point that they've quit dealing with them altogether. If this is all true piss on Holley!! Last part I bought from Holley came from Taiwan anyways so I was already on my way out.

Wait.. quick fuel sold to Holley? When did this happen
I recently had another mechanical fuel pump failure which lead me to researching electric pump options. While talking to Don at FBBO he informed me that they no longer offer Quickfuel because of just that reason. Apparently they wasted little time wrecking things but I believe he said it happened this past Summer. This is terrible news to me, the people at FBBO offered a carb solution that was well worth every penny. My carb was custom calibrated, tuned on a motor and delivered to my door step at a cheaper price than Summit and works flawlessly. Not anymore!

Bought Quick fuel DB 850 dp for my 408 a few years back, had it apart a year later and it had a proform metering block made in china. Called QF and inquired why, was told the difference was that proform was made in China and assembled there and QF was made there and assembled and tested in USA. Basically the same carb. Sure was a suprise to me. Our politicians let all this crap happen!! Have to look hard to find anything made in USA.

Hmmmmmm, all I know is the quality was excellent along with the performance plus all the nice bells and whistles to boot.

Holly sounds a lot like att if you can't beat them buy them up instead. They bought direct tv now in the process of buying time warner. I have holly 3 deuce set up on the X but they were made back in the 69 when Chrysler used them for the six pack set up. Seem to work okay and easy to work on. Times continue to change for the worse. Hopefully Trump policies drive, things out of China and back home. Maybe we'll get some decent parts again.

Aerospace.....? Are you thinking of adding an F35 fuel system to your car....? Lol

LOL, interestingly enough they were involved in aerospace as well but are a big name in fuel delivery for drag racing.

well, this is the story. when Holley was sold off like 15 yrs ago or so, the two main engineers at Holley (holding about 80 pattents between them) quit Holley and started QF.

after QF launched and had some success one of the old boys passed, and the other gent retired, and sold back to Holley.
this was like 5 yrs ago.

personally, i wasnt all in on QF, but the price point was right for tuning capabilities you got.

I have a Holley HP ultra and im not looking back.

I'm sure their are plenty of members here that know the Barry Grant story and what happened to his empire.

I've seen and lived this for the last 25 years. The last company I worked for changed hands four times in ten years. Each new company proclaimed their motivation was for a bigger and better product but in my case, it was blatantly obvious they were there simply to kill the competition.
They all do it. It's the American way. Sometimes it really is to enhance a product line but sometimes it's to eliminate competition.

In 2012, the private equity firm Monomoy Capital Partners acquired Holley Performance Products.
In 2013, Monomoy Capital Partners sold Holley to Lincolnshire Equity Fund IV, L.P.
In 2015, Holley acquired the MSD Group which includes MSD Performance, Mr. Gasket, Accel, Superchips, Edge, Racepak, Mallory, Hays, QuickTime, and Lakewood.

One thing I am pretty sure of, these Capital Partners and Equity Funds are all about profits first and foremost. They sure don't sound like car guys to me. Are they motivated by a demand for high quality, state of art products or just slick marketing campaigns? Only time will tell if we are the beneficiaries of such mergers.

Edited - Also Flowtech, Earl's Performance Plumbing, Hooker Headers and NOS Nitrous.

WOW. I didn't hear about this until now. Sounds like Holley has a monopoly on a lot of companies. I still like my QF on my motor

Man... have I not been paying attention! I didn't know about Barry Grant till I saw these posts... I have a speed demon carb but I bought it back in 2007 before they were sold off... Gee I hope I can still find parts for it lol

I already knew about the acquisitions they made, and that Hookers stuff is made overseas and the price is still high, but it never dawned on me about the other lines and that they too are most likely not U.S. made. I wonder how you will tell if the product is legit or a knock off now. I'm glad Mr. T is going to get this country back on its feet with our products being made back over here.

This is my biggest dilemma with purchasing parts now, you look in a catalog at fuel pumps and Holley, Carter, Edelbrock, Quickfuel etc all look strangely familiar so what are you actually buying? Parts rarely last a fraction of the life span they used to and it's big name brands as well. I too bought a Demon years ago and loved it, fast forward to 2 years ago when I bought another and there was no comparison. I trust almost nobody anymore, I call the manufacturer now and ask where it's made... if they hesitate or give less than a straight forward answer I look elsewhere.

I agree and do the same 7474mopar. The same thing about "authorized OE parts" but made in China or where ever. I bought door handles once but the studs going into the door was metric and didn't fit right. The door handles broke when operated 3 times and chipped paint :(
