Pertronix 1 and factory tach

I went through the search engine but still will ask if pertronix 1 and the factory tach get along together.
I also read that even though the instructions says it needs a full 12v I read in the search that pertronix 1 can work through the ballast and that may get the tach back on track.
It reads inaccurate since the install.

Where did you hook up the red lead. What did you do with the ballast?

I put in one about 2 years ago. Tac read way high after that. Tech support is useless and doesnt resolve anything. They say buy their coils and the ohms of the coil need to be within there spec add a resistor, Yah that's accurate... etc etc, etc, Ive got other things I need to work on , not trouble shoot this nonsense. I have read stories where factory TACs get blown out, This dosent surprise me. Mine is still working. Good luck. 68rr

I use the petronix coil I just paint it black. I use switched 12 volt side of ballast resistor to the coil.

Just like the picture. Super simple. Tachs fine.

So you didn't change the function of the ballast, the pertronix receives less than 12v after start up

Petronix 1 you use the ballast . Petronix 2 and 3 ballast is by-past. I run the Petronix 1 in the 65 and my 67 Dart both tachs work fine.Dart is going on 20 years now.I use the factory mopar coils.Maybe go over the instructions again to see if you missed something ?

I bypassed ballast as per instruction sheet, I bet that's the problem

that wasn't the problem tach still reads about 1000 rpm too high, less at low rpm's, becomes more inaccurate as rpm increases. So who is the best out there to calibrate a factory tach?
