Taking Up New Residence

The Doug's Headers are great. They claimed the black paint that they are useing now won't burn off and it didn't! Almost resembles a ceramic coating now that it's been heated. #4 and #6 plugs need to be tightened with a boxed end wrench from underneath unless you bend yourself a wrench to accommodate the task. Another special tool I'll have to make .

The MSD wires that I bought are Crap!
You install them on the plug once and remove them, they open up and won't snap back on again unless you squeeze the connector with a pair of pliers. I made sure every wire was "snapped" on before the 20 min cam break-in and two of them practically fell off near the end of the break-in. JUNK!

I'm looking at Firecore now...

Very nice outcome! I would call Rick at Firecore and have him make a set of wires. You can give him measurements if you like. I made the change from MSD to Firecore, would never buy from anyone else now.His distributor is a nice piece also!

Have a few friends that have 62's.Cool one year car!!!
Yea, they only made them for one year. I think it was '62

Seriously, it's amazing that with the complication of the design, the cost of making all of those dies for the body parts and only use them for one year!

This wasn't my favorite look for a project but after buying it, it kind of grows on you. The 62 has a lot of history and now that I own one, it would be hard to part with if I ever had too.

The shroud cost me about what the repros are going for. If I still worked where I use to, I could have made it up myself. The temp never got over the 180* thermostat during the 20 min break-in. Must be working! I might have to go to a 195*

Nobody at my house to answer to! Rinsing the carb parts in hot water makes them dry real quick when you blow them out.

That SUCKS! However, I noticed it says on the box an MSD product. More than likely more **** from China. Just What is good stuff anymore? I agree with HEM-IITIS. I put Firecore on my other car a few years back. As far as the 65..... well I bought a wire set (not MSD) from Mancini. I may find it performs like yours!

The problem is the connector is mild steel, not stainless or a higher carbon with some memory in it. They have some quality to them and are nice looking. Lots of good reviews but they missed the mark on them being able to retain their hold after removing them once. Even if they made the clip longer to go all the way around the "sleeve", then it would retain its shape. Firecore is useing stainless steel ends...

I've been working on the steering column and brake pedal assembly. Time consuming...

Here's a good idea for blasting small parts and hardware. Saw it on YouTube one day.

I have lots of pics of disassembly and reassembling if anyone needs them.

Now I'm on to doing the complete brake system. Waiting to install the steering column after that's all done. The mc will have to be removed to bench bleed and it's so much easier to get to the hardware without it in the way.

That is a dynamite car, I just saw your posts, and you have done a great job!

Thanks for the column pics.I will be removing mine in the near future.I wish to gut all the 3 on the tree stuff, change the shaft to CM tube and do a removable steering wheel:thumbsup:

Kid... excellent Tutorial ! It's going Viral!!! Well Done!
There's several on YouTube and they all seem to be struggling with the puller. I even saw one guy wrestling with a bar that he sticks between the fingers on the puller. I just had to show how easy it is.
