Now that my car is back from the shop I've had some time to get pic's. Just need everyones help on a few items. Based on what I've found looks to me a #'s car correct? Do I need any other #'s to verify I this is truly a #'s matching car?

Head- 2843906-6
Engine- 246813-7 LL Date code on block 5-17-67 I'm assuming the 2468137 is the part #What does the "LL" Stand for? Also assuming the N & D are to designate the Night & day shift correct?
Transmission- PK2892031K 23647333. Need help breaking down these #'s.
Pad says D383 1 23 2 - D = D series, 383 = Engine 1 23 - Jan 23. Does the last 2 Stand for 2 BBL?
For the rear it has the 489 case. What does the Triangle mean as well as the 4 above it.
Rear has the 3.23 tag on it as well.

You were told that the block, rad support, and vin matched....in relation to the build sheet.

The other vin numbers are on the driver side trunk lip....

Your trans has NO stamping in relation to vin.....

489 cases was 69-74......

So based on your paperwork and stampings the block mates with the body and build sheet(assuming the trunk lip matches).....the other parts just complete the puzzle of driving it....

Back then I did not have clear pic's of the block/tran but now I do. I also discovered on the pad a #2 after the 1-23. So not sure what that meant.

So the 489 case was not offered in 68, meaning it was swapped out at some point. What does the Triangle mean as well as the 4 above it.

Where's the vin stamp on your trans? The pk numbers are trans related numbers and not vin numbers....

The 5/17/67 is the block casting date....when the block was formed...the other number is the casting number relating to a 68 383 block....the ID pad date is the build date of the motor in relation to the build date of your car roughly...

The triangle is a manufacturer mark...means nothing other than on a 489 case will have that. Find a 742 case and your rear will be complete....

An elderly friend of mine retired from Chrysler years ago. While talking about his days there he told me, sometimes they didn't change date codes for weeks !

Give him all the pertinent information...because others posting with stories etc and misinformation are not going to give you concise information.

iMHO he is the most knowledgeable when it comes to anything numbers/production related....he knows the plants variances an compiles research to this day....

OE correct builds are my arena in this hobby....for over 20 plus years....

Part dates are waaaaay different than engine assembly dates....

It is a know fact in relation to parts a 3 month prior to actual build date window is acceptable....

I didn't intend to. I believe i am a bit jaded. I've only been on here a short time. But from reading various threads here, i get the feeling more of a court room & less of guys chatting about & enjoying their Mopars. IMO. No offense intended.

You haven't been here long enough....this forum is the best on the web and a great group of guys in the Mopar world...

We have very well versed and experienced guys here that are passionate about mopars and the true history....we will not beat around the bush and will be direct...that's it...straight up honest answer....

Most take it the wrong way and me and others that are blunt in reality would be your next best friend....

This shows why the SPD is NOT the build date but only a SCHEDULED date. The engine was assembled a day after the SPD. Figure it took a week to get the engine to the plant. It's likely the car was assembled around January 30th.

VIN stamping on engines and transmission housings is an interesting topic and this is a good example. Research continues.

The 237 axle assembly code on the Broadcast sheet tells us the rear came with a 1 3/8 pinion so it was a 741 case.

While more common to '69 and later, the 489 case was released late in the '68 model year. Check the casting date on the housing.
