Does anyone run anything special for these bushings for drag racing?Would their be any advantage to replacing the rubber with bronze bushings?

I used tubular upper control arms with hiem joints. Also made a bronze lower control arm bushing. You have to come up with a way to hold the LCA in place as the metal bushing won't hold it like the factory one. This really freed up the front end. It was a drag race only car. 1.21 sixty foot. Definitely would not recommend this for a street car. For safety and comfort reasons

Most drag cars seperate to quick in the front anyway. Unless your running a stocker or something on very small tires the stock bushings are fine. Use the Moog offsets in the front upper a arm to gain caster. I run stock a arms on my 64. Been 1.240 60 ft.

Good info.I was thinking of stockers and small tire cars.

Even with a stocker they can come up to quick and unload. However added travel will help.

A while back I was looking at switching to tubular upper control arms but left the stock ones in with the offset bushings as per Doug's advise. Since then I've been tightening on the front shock rebound to slow the separation. Saved me $$.

Malex,
We need to race sometime. My personal best is 10.36 to your 10.38 and my mph is 129.23 to your 129.87
Wow, how close would that be.

That would be an honor to race the legend Mike Gaines! Actually I was after bagging the 130MPH prize but ran out of racing season damn it.. LOL. But I was close! Next year! And I'll be 100 lighter on the front end.
There's a heavy weight 71 Charger lurking around these parts, guy goes by the name of Wookie 316 and I'll have my hands full with that beast!

I do like to run solid bushings (or poly if driven on the street) in the leaf spring front mounts if you're running leaf springs. Stock rubber is fine in the rear hangers though.
