63-65 are different and mount on the radiator support. 62's were on the hood like the later 66 and up models. Looks like there were 2 different styles; a smaller "V" shaped one and a wider, flatter one. Both held on with 8 clips. I'd like to either buy or rent these seals to duplicate. I could give you a new one with OEM correct SS clips too. Any pictures would be great.

I KNOW 62 Dodges had these seals. Can anyone confirm if 62 Plymouths did too?

Thanks

I have a '62 Plymouth with factory air. The hood seal is attached to the core support. Maybe the Dodges were different?

Great info guys. Could be a Dodge Plym thing. I have a 62 Dart hood in my shop and it definitely has 8 holes across the hood where a seal mounts. I know I've seen other 62 cars without any holes on the rad support. I scratched my head. Making sense now.

I'm curious about these also. Apparently there is a wide one and a narrow one. Steel City makes both. My '62 Dodge has the holes in the hood also but the strip and clips are missing. I'm thinking the wider one is for the radiator support and the narrow is for the hood or vice versa? It's liked they used both but for different years.

There is usally a wide one for the hood to rad. support & a narrow one for the hood to cowl.

Actually, what I know to be true,

On 63-65 B bodies, the hood to rad seal mounts on the rad support. There is a narrow one for low HP engines and a wide one for high HP engines and AC cars.

On 62 Dodges there are 8 symmetrical holes in the hood for a seal and no holes on the rad support. (I have a 62 Dodge hood in my shop) I would assume it's just a one size seal cause the wide seal on the 63-65 actually wraps around the radiator to seal the gap sides a bit. A wide seal on the hood couldn't do that.

Many online photos of 62 Plymouths there are also no holes on the radiator support and 8 symmetrical holes on the front of the hood.

So I'm ASSUMING 62 Dodge and Plym B bodies both have small seals on their hoods. Anyone have any pictures?

PS On the links above, many of these companies make parts for a GILLION different models and aren't experts on Mopars.

I'll check to see what I have, I have a bunch of 62 Ply stuff.

Yea my dads 62 dodge polara seal in on the hood

Although my car came with a shield on the core support, the hood has holes for a shield there. Who knows? Mother Mopar is known for some inconsistency.

Can you get us a picture. Mine has the holes in the hood but the seal is long gone. Notice how far foward of the radiator support the holes are.

I was sent this from a guy who was looking for a hood seal for his car. said he found it online. LOOKS original cause those steel colored large rectangular head clips are period correct.

Plus it would jive with your picture of the hood seal holes IN the hood being more fwd than the support.

Many people are selling the 63-65 hood too radiator seal that mounts on the rad support as fitting a 62. Even Steele rubber. I don't think anyone is selling the one I show in my picture above that is 62 B only.
I know Joe. I'll call him tomorrow but I'd bet he doesn't have the one in the picture above.

1962Polara, do you have one on your car?

Hmmm. I got mine from Steele, V shaped, mounted to the hood as well. I had to relieve the area for the hood latch so I doubt the one I have is correct.
