Really? If the toddler is hitting pets, its hitting other things as well. That kind of behaviour needs to be stopped.Children have to be taught to respect animals and not abuse them. However your dog must be able to tolerate a toddler, if your dog cant be trusted or cant tolerate small children, the dog has to go.

Why are you so easily offended? Beekools doing what needs to be done. I was suggesting no more or less?Really?
Yes really. No were in my post did i elude to, insinuate or say anything about a toddler abusing a dog, except that it should not happen.
I really dont get how some here can twist and turn a reply post but then again i see it almost everyday concerning politics so its no surprise.
I think Mr Beekool's post and pictures sums it up and says it better than i could.

You have a dog it needs to be able to tolerate a small child as in a toddler. No excuses. Now thats not to say a small child inflicting pain on a dog but again the dog has to be excellent and trustworthy if not the dog should be removed and placed with a older family. And let me add if anyone cant agree with that, dont have children and do not let young children around your petsMight be because of how you said the dogs need to tolerate the toddler or they have to go. I think he was making the point that everything has its limits, whether they be dogs or people. I trust my dogs, but I still understand that they can only tolerate so much.
We have 4 dogs ranging in size from our 2 Papillons weighing 5 and 10 lbs, to a 50lb Bull Terrier (Think Spuds McKensie) and our Mastiff, and taught our granddaughters, from the time they were little, to be nice to the dogs and that if they hurt them, they may react badly. They learned to be nice to the dogs and the dogs are very tolerant. We have a 200lb Mastiff that the youngest would lay all over and he just lays there with her, but we had to teach her not to jump on him, hit him, or anything else that may hurt him.
There are a lot of parents out there that think they don't have to teach the kids to act right and immediately blame the dog. You may not have intended to sound that way in your first post, but it could have been taken that way.
Im absolutely not offended. You quoted me and made a inaccurate reply. Why are you so easily offended? Beekools doing what needs to be done. I was suggesting no more or less?

Otherwise they'll grow up like some else around here...comes back to the "strap " and this kid should get one !!
Ridiculous reply. Overly protective attitude? Its called being responsible and not putting a untrusted dog before a child.I disagree. That kind of statement comes from people who don't want to watch their toddlers and let them do whatever they want. Everyone wants to coddle their kids and remove all points of danger so they can let them run free and not watch them. The truth is we all lived without outlet protectors, bicycle helmets, and bumpers on everything. And then we wonder why our kids have no common sense these days.
I respect your opinion, but disagree. It's not about making excuses, it's about watching your kids and teaching them how to act. Why do some people act like there is only one right choice and try to speak in matter of fact terms. Like,... "You have a dog it needs to be able to tolerate a small child as in a toddler...... No excuses. And let me add if anyone cant agree with that, dont have children and do not let young children around your pets"
You overly protective attitude is not the only option in this world. Kids all over the world grow up without having to protect them from every little thing and guess what,... as a whole,... they do pretty darn well!! I choose to teach kids at a very young age what they should or shouldn't do, rather than protect them from everything and they learn nothing because they never have to face any consequences.

For the first time I agree with yousomeone should beat the **** out of the Kid's parents with a bat and take the kid away...
the blame for this should not be on the dog or the kid.
