Choosing Your First Battery Impact Wrench for Automotive Work

The Makita is actually pretty cheap compared to the Milwaukee and IR. You can forget about the $750.00 Snap-On.
I paid right around $500.00 for my Milwaukee with 2 batteries and charger.

That's even better. My complaint with the Milwaukee is the battery only fits the Impact gun. The ratchet is an M12 with a totally different battery. I wish they were interchangeable.

I've had my 1st ridgid battery tools now 5 years. I've now have 20 that I use every week if not everyday. I don't use the 1/2" impact that much but it does have all the power I need for anything I've used it for, including lugs on the 3500, 8" X1/2" lags etc.. The one nice thing is the lifetime warranty even on batteries when bought with a kit, batteries bought separate have a 3 year warranty. You do have to register them, honestly sometimes it's a pain. I've had to redo the register because something was messed up but so far so good. I did have to have a sawsall repaired, but it was rode hard and put up wet. A couple buds have Milwaukee, they are like Mopars or a Harley to them. When they had problems both were told it was caused by dirt, Wasn't covered. Could have been isolated incidents, don't know. You can by that impact at Home Depot, mine was $149 if I remember correct. Tools are like anything, if you ask you'll get as many opinions as there are tools. Take care and good luck. Howard

I bought a Ryobi impact gun and have had good luck with it. Not too long ago I got a drill and a hammer drill combo on sale. I bought an air compressor with the impact gun. All of these use the same battery pack, which I’ve got 3 of now along with 2 chargers. Kobalt makes a 3 tool holder which fit in the deep drawer on my roll around and has room for the battery packs and a case for bits and drivers, tucks the 3 cordless tools and stuff away nicely.
